cups printing
I have searched around the samba documentation, including the smb.conf man page, and have found nothing regarding the cups printing system except change printcap to cups. Now, I have done that, but printing still does not work. I need some types of details and a sample smb.conf and/or any other relevant documentation. Thanks much, George D. Plymale

Samba 2.2 + CUPS driver download work for anyone?
I have tried everything I could possibly think of to get printer driver download working with Samba 2.2.3a-6 and CUPS 1.1.15-4 (latest Debian unstable packages). I am wondering if anyone else has go this to work at all (with newer versions of samba or cups?) -- if so please let me know to give me some hope. Or else I am thinking this is officially 'broken'. CUPS is working perfectly

samba3.0.23c + cups1.1.23 unexpected pause on some printers
Hi, I use a Debian Sarge with samba 3.0.23c (from testing) and cups 1.1.23. For unexpected reason, some printers are sometime stopped (pause), and I need to start then again. There is no trace of a "stop" in the log of cups. (and I'm the only one who can pause them, anyway). here is an example : cat 10.lpr.log | grep imp-cao | grep -E "(stop|start)" Nov 10 14:15:41

Solaris 8 and cups issues
Hello there, I have a solaris 8 server running cups 1.1.20 and samba 3.0.1. We've successfully configured a handful of HP Laserjet network printers to work with our windows clients (works like a champ...very happy with winbind and the "point and print" automatic driver installation). However, we can't print from Solaris clients? We have one physical printer and two queues

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

cupsaddsmb -v, Warning: PPD file not found?!
Hello all, I am running a Debian testing/unstable system with samba 2.2.3a-6 and cupsys 1.1.15-4 as a member server in a samba domain. I have used CUPS to add a networked HP8100N printer and it works fine locally, but I'm having difficulty adding it to samba for Win98 domain clients to use. I ran cupsaddsmb to add the printer and drivers to samba, but it cannot find the PPD file... where is

Printing - using WINE
Hello out there, perhaps anybody has some idea for my problem. I've had several nice successes with WINE. GoogleEarth e.g. or some of my old tools of the windows-times. Now yesterday I've sent my tax-declaration (in Germany: ElsterFormular) to the tax-administration, online. BUT: I couldn't print the declaration!! NOTHING at all happened. I havn't ever tried to print, it was not

Landscape problems with ps2pdf
R Users, I have created a multipage PostScript file using the postscript() function with horizontal = TRUE to produce my plots in landscape. I intended to convert that entire file to PDF using ps2pdf to have the plots available for a presentation. Unfortunately, the resulting PDF document is rotated -90 degrees. I have found dozens of references to this kind of problem with ps2pdf online, but

WIN40 printer driver on Solaris not being installed?
I am having problems with the driver installation for WIN40 (9x machines) in Samba 2.2.5 / Samba 2.2.6pre2 on a Solaris 8 machine. I build binary packages for both debian and solaris environments. For debian 2.2.5, I use the 2.2.5 source with the printing patch provided by Jerry Carter. I use the packaging/Debian/debian systems to build and package the source. For Solaris I use the

Specific PPD Files are not downloaded on an automatic installation
Hi there! I am trying to get the samba cups integration to work. After some fiddling I can now install the Adobe Postscript Printer driver remotely. Unfortunately Windows 98 clients (I haven't checked with NT,2000,XP yet) only get the default ppd. What is the proper naming convention for the ppd files? Currently we use the printer DNS name pr100, pr101, pr102, ... Should the ppd files be named
