tty login vs Gnome screen lock
I have a Centos 4.4 system (unpatched) that lets me log in via
tty/console, but when the Gnone screen lock kicks in, my password is
unable to unlock. I am absolutely certain I an typing the correct
password. I had to Alt-F1 to log in that way, issue a sudo reboot, then
logged back in, enabled the screen lock, typed my password again, and it
would not unlock.
What am I missing?
Thanks.

AW: Archive-to-DVD
Hi folks,
Here's the situation. I have a group of engineers who love to save
things to disk. Now that the filer is getting full, they are
interested in archiving some of those things to DVD.
The tress containing the things they want to archive are specified
like so:
/path/path/path/A/04??
/path/path/path/B/04??
/path/path/path/A/05??
/path/path/path/B/05??
/path/path/path/A/06??

AW: Re: Why iptables are not working?
Hi,
Does the Path "/sbin" exist in the File
".bash_profile" of User root ?
If not you may add the path to the file.
Maybe that could help you
The other way is, that you call iptables
With the full path "/sbin/iptables". That
Should also work well if you don't want
To edit .bash_profile (why ever).

AW: RE: read only root file system
I am looking at having a read only box, it will not use a swap
partition.
Any recommendations?
Well, i tried two possibilities years ago..
1.) :
There are SCSI-Disks with jumpers for
"Write Protect" , so you have a real
Hardware write-protection.
2.) :
Have a look at (Open)BSD's "Immutable Flag"-Feature. (Well, i hope you all love
OpenBSD?) ;-) But....don't get

Hi,
Maybe (?) it would be helpful for us all if
You would tell us how the Problem was
Fixed instead of telling us "Thanks, got it
fixed" ;-)
P.S. Sorry for the horrible Format of this Mail. But i'm using the lausy M$-Standard-Client on my Mobile-Phone...

AW: Securing SSH
So I setup ssh on a server so I could do some work from home and I think
the second I opened it every sorry monkey from around the world has been
trying every account name imaginable to get into the system.
What's a good way to deal with this?

AW: question on minimal install using CF as /dev/sda
Hi all,
We're attempting to use CentOS 5.1 on a test platform which uses a CF
card as it's primary storage. (MB: ETX-LX)
The BIOS supports booting from CD and/or the CF.
Issues we've run into are:
During installation of CentOS 5.1, it appears all goes well through
partitioning, package selection, interface configuration. Once the
install starts in earnest, errors pop up...a

how to stop cursor blinking in wine GUI
Hi all wine users and developers,
I have a touch question which I have been searching answers for quite a long
time to configure wine but still have not solved yet. Wine is the only
Windows program simulator running in Linux which I use, however one thing
annoying me is that currently the cursor is always blinking in the GUI. For
example, the editplus running in wine. Something it really drives

Hi!
This is really off-topic but you must know it:
In Germay you have to pay for radio and television not if you use it
but if you have the _possibility_ to use it. Since there is web radio
and things like youtube you have to pay if you have a pc/mac whatever,
but not to the service providers but to the almost govermental radio/tv
stations, which makes them the richest in the world.

Resync dovecot index after manual moving mails in maildir
Hello,
i'm new to dovecot and this list. Dovecot works very well after all! I
now have a small problem, maybe there is a solution.
For automatically spam learning i've created a maildir folder called
"spam learn". Every hour spamassassin scans this folder and learn from
the mails or files at this folder. After this learn i move the files to
trash. If at this moment a client

KeyEvent#get_key_code
Bonsoir Alex,
en utilisant "event.get_key_code" avec les touches du pavé numérique(clavier azerty) j''obtient les résultats suivants:
par exemple:
1 = 324

Est-ce que j''obtient les mêmes résultats avec les mêmes touches avec un clavier querty?
merci.
