FreeBSD as a PDC
Hello all,
I was using Samba 2.2.5 on a Linux machine as a PDC and it was working fine.
But know I installed FreeBSD 4.7 in this machine and installed Samba
2.2.6pre2. It's still working as a PDC, but I can't add machine trust
accounts because FreeBSD doesn't accept $ in its usernames. How should I do
now?
Thanks in advance.

A problem about ICMP Destination Unreachable
Hello,
I have installed samba in a
Linux RedHat 8.0 PC in my lab
as a file server. The clients
of samba are PCs with MS Windows98.
Now I meet some problems, I can see
samba server name in Network Neighborhood,
but when I click the icon, I get this
error message after a long delay:
Cannot link to Linuxserver(server name).
And I used Ethereal to track the packets
to find the problem, I found that

nutups with MGE Evolution via USB
I'm getting dmesg flooded with messages like this one:
usbdevfs: usb_submit_urb returned -28
What's wrong? I'm using Linux kernel 2.4.32 and nut-2.0.3.
The /etc/ups.conf contains
[mgeups]
driver = newhidups
port = auto
desc = "MGE UPS"
Cheers,
Rodrigo

using nut in cacti
Hi. Are there any off-the-shelf solutions to monitor nut ups' with cacti? I
suppose snmp could be used, but since upsc can be run locally in the cacti
server, it might be easier to use a simple script.
Cheers,
Rodrigo

tracing a problem with newhidups
Hi. I'm having trouble with nut-2.0.3 on a linux kernel 2.4.32 machine and a
MGE Evolution 3000. The problem is that I'm getting the following message,
repeatidly, on dmesg:
usbdevfs: usb_submit_urb returned -22
(-22 means -EINVAL)
I traced the problem with newhidups -DDDDDD auto and found out that the -22
error appears in a line "none (-22)" of the output as:

"Access Denied" if printing after logoff
Dear users,
I have Samba (3.0.28a) currently configured to share CUPS (1.3.7)
printers on a Ubuntu (8.04 hardy) server, using LDAP for authentication.
After installing a printer (accessing the Samba share and inputting the
user's password), everything is fine and printing works fine. But after
restarting the computer (or simply logging off), the user gets an

MGE Evolution, USB and linux
I have a MGE Evolution 3000 connected via USB to a linux server (HP

before nut trying to connect to the UPS, I guess HID doesn't work as

Question about glm using R
Good morning,
I am using R to try to model the proportion of burned area in Portugal.
The dependent variable is the proportion. The family used is binomial
and the epsilon would be binary.
I am not able to find the package to be used when the proportion (%) has
to be used in glm. Could someone help me?
I am using normal commands of glm.. for example:

Excess Bandwidth
Hi,
I''m trying to configure QoS on my linux in the following manner:
I have a main link with 64K, so I divided it in 3 classes of 18K, 14K
and 9K with an excess (not used for classified traffic, just to be
shared) of 23K. This excess should be distributed proportonally among
the 3 classes, that is, the class that has more rate should borrow more
bandwidth. What is happening is

How to save R "clean" sessions in BATCH mode?
Thanks a lot for all of you that have reply me about opening and
ending R workspaces in BATCH mode. However replies were a king general
and I?m afraid I could not take the entire message from them.
Therefore I chose to expose here a representative fraction of my work.
I have 50 Rdata files (F1,F2,F3,F4,
,F50) with objects inside.
I need to:

Saving R graphics with version 2.3.1
HI !
I?ve installed the latest R version (2.3.1) and I?ve had problems to
save my graphics as JPEG, PNG and the others available formats.
R saves the file with no extension. Then, I have to open this file
using an image visualizer and save it as PNG, for instance.
Previous R versions work without problems.
Has everyone had a similar problem?
Is it a bug of R 2.3.1?
Thanks in advance.
