Logon Failure connecting to windows share over ppp vpn
Apologies if this comes through twice; I sent it yesterday from the wrong
address and I don't think it went through.

Problem with smbclient and domain logon
I am able to join the domain initially with root username and password.
When i reboot and try to logon to the domain it tells me:
The system could not log you on because the domain DARCSTAR is unavailable.
Additionally, i am having a problem with logging in from smbclient with any user except for root:
I type: smbclient -L FILESERVER -U sean
password:

method to simulate domain logon from a node?
I recently ran into a situation where a Samba upgrade apparently broke
the machine records in the smbpasswd file, with the resulting symptom
that domain logons on those computers would fail about 95% of the time.
(A very strange symptom, how it worked sometimes is still a mystery to
me.) Similarly, this would fail:
% smbclient -L saf01 -U 'saf/mathog%(password)'

Make Samba4 ignore domain prefix on share logon
Never mind I am an idiot. I have been experimenting with passwords and was
writing the wrong one after edit. It DOES work from smb client.

Samba 3.0.8 - Unable to login/logon from Windows 2003 or CIFS
Hi Folks,
Recently (I believe since recent 3.0.x releases), I have been unable to
login to a Samba instance using CIFS (Linux mount) or Windows 2003. If I
change the smb.conf from:
security = server
to
security = user
I _can_ login again fine. The NT PDC always replies with
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE. It's event viewer shows that the proper
username is being used, but that the password is

Make Samba4 ignore domain prefix on share logon
Okay so it does work from smbclient, however I still can't get windows 10
to auth without prefix. Will try tommorow (CEST) at work on windows 7 one.

smbclient 2.2.8 gives NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi out there,
I'm facing a problem which drives me nearly nuts...
On Solaris 2.6 today I upgraded SAMBA from 2.0.7
to the fresh 2.2.8 from Sunfreeware. Everything
works fine - besides the smbclient.
I used to use smbclient by some PERL-scripts
to transfer huge crowds of files from SUN to some
Windblows-boxes. With 2.0.7 everything worked
fine for 18 months...
As long as I connect to

NTLMv2 can't auth affter Win2003 update
My AD server is Win2003. And my linux server is ubuntu. Samba version is
2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.12 and 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.7. They are join into
the Win2003 AD as normal smb servers (not DC).
After Win2003 DC autoupdate last week, I can't use smbclient access all
samba server with NTLMv2:
~$ smbclient //172.16.3.13/share -U testuser
Enter DOMAIN\testuser's password:

Replication problems - Logon failure
Hello,
I am once again having troubles with a setup of a samba 4 DC and a
Windows Server 2008R2 DC. Replication between these two stopped a few
days ago. Since then the logs on the samba server are flooded with:

Samba & Vista
I'm trying to use smbclient to look at a Vista box but I keep getting:
# smbclient -L user-pc -U Kellie
Password: <Kellie's password>
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
I know the user/password combination is good.
I googled around and got the impression that Vista didn't play well
with Samba because of some authentication protocol that Vista uses but
I also got the

samba member, NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hello,
I've followed two or three articles on how to configure samba 4 as a
member server. One of these articles is from the samba wiki:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server
The server joins, but it cannot authenticate users. I don't care about
nss, winbind, etc. unless it is REALLY necessary. All I want is to use
this server as a file server for workstations

Make Samba4 ignore domain prefix on share logon
Edited smb.conf to match yours and restarted both smbd and winbind. Did not
work. Tried to smbclient from another server: session setup failed:
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE. Our member server is also running Ubuntu 14.04 and
Samba-4.1.6 (I might have mistakenly wirtten it was 4.1.7 in original
email, dont remember now). Domain Users do have gid and users have uids.

linux smbclient NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE, mount.cifs works
From linux, I can mount.cifs, but smbclient fails:
Searching through the archives, I found: "IIRC you should use mount.cifs
instead of smbclient on an ADS"
But for my application, it would be *really nice* to be able to use
smbclient, but if I have to, I can setup an
intermediate server that can run mount.cifs (the main application server
is locked into an old kernel version

No access to machine shares in Samba Domain
Hello All,
I have a Linux box running RH9 and Samba 2.2.7 as domain controller.
Last week, we bought a new (better!) box and migrated our Samba
installation to the new box and apparently everything was working fine,
until we noticed that shares created in the Windows machines are not
accessible by anyone in the domain.
I've read all the docs and everything seems ok, but I can't get
