Samba server, works fine for several days, then load increases indefinately till server unavailable
Our Samba server running on CentOS 5.1 (upgraded from 5.0) with Samba 3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4 has been in place for about a year and a half. We had no issues till about 2 months ago. This may have coincided with the upgrade of CentOS 5.0 to 5.1 (which would have brought a new Samba version with it). Anyway, the server will be fine and snappy for a week or so, then out of the blue, nobody can

Hello, When I configuring samba 3.0.8 as a PDC. When I run the testparm command, I get the error: Error: the 'passwd program' (/usr/bin/passwd %u) requires a '%u' parameter. I have tried to find a solution for this problem and knew, it is a bug. If it is a bug, how can I solve this problem? Good Afternoon, I had sent in an earlier message about trying to login and getting dropped from a W2000 workstation. I received a reply back to upgrade Samba from 3.013 to 3.020x. I did this. Operating System: SuSE 9.3 Samba Version: 3.0.20a (SuSE's RPMs) I am using /etc/samba/smbpasswd file and not LDAP to store the users and passwords. [global] passwd chat debug = Yes passwd

SPA2100 transfer to ASTERISK CID
Hi all, I have around 100 SPA2100 registered in my provider openSER. I'd like to add an Asterisk registered into openSER, to the network, to deploy voicemail service for those SPAs. Due to administration access levels, I have no access to SER box, so I'm wondering if that possible: - Some foreign user (say A) calls one of my SPA (say B). - B don't answer. So.. B SPA is setted up to

A Memoir on FastCGI and Apache
With the release of our filmfury.com project, I''ve been trying to rise to the stature of a true system administrator in the last couple of days (haha). I''m trying to understand how all of the pieces to this apache/fastcgi deployment fit together. Here''s what I''ve learned so far: * You need a separate FastCGI server for each Rails application on your

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ljs aka missing link from /usr/lib64/libjs.so to /usr/lib64/libjs.so.1
Hello list, I'm trying to compile a php4 package for centos5 and I'm stumbling across some "oddity" with the symbolic links of at least one library. But it's not a php4 problem, so read on. The package 'js' gives the library /usr/lib64/libjs.so.1 but shouldn't there be a link from /usr/lib64/libjs.so to /usr/lib64/libjs.so.1? Otherwise my compiler call %

Even using "--with-gnu-ld" as a configuration switch it still wants to use the Solaris-native ld. I don't know what's changed, but four SPA841s and a SPA3000 are no longer answering when they get an inbound call from *. This has been a working configuration for weeks. I *have* been fiddling with the server config; however, the configuration is under version control and I've reverted everything to exactly how it was when the server was working. Doesn't fix it. different win machines on PDC not accessible at different times
I am having nearly the EXACT same problem as http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2003-December/033315.html I have samba 3.0.1-1 rpms and fedora core 1. Samba is set as a WINS server, which the win2k machines, who use DHCP from router, are pointed to by the WINS server address specified in router(each of the win2k machines, via ipconfig /all reveal they do in fact use the wins server).

NT profiles on samba server
Hi, there, I put roaming profiles for NT4 users on samba server. In "Domain User Manager", I set "User profile Path" \\abel\profile\%U.pds, here abel is samba server. It works well, but everyday several users complain. Sometime, they cannot login because of roaming profiles. Sometimes, some users cannot run VC or VB. Sometime, I only need to remove ntuser.dat on samba
