Samba & Tivoli Storage Mgr (TSM) Integration Query ???
All,
Can anyone confirm that Samba/Solaris will integrate with TSM (Tivoli
Storage Manager) when deployed into a Wintel client environment.
ie. Solaris/Samba as a TSM client
- we need to be sure that the ACL's will be maintained correctly via a
TSM backup/restore (full or partial)
Or confirm this does not work, which is not what we want to hear - but
the truth will suffice.
Many thanks,

Using TSM to back-up glusterfs
Hi
We have been trying back-up a glusterfs (v3.1.4) area using
the Tivoli TSM software to an off-site area. The back-up

BUG: SAMBA 3.5.x and IBM TSM
Hi!
I am using SAMBA 3.5.x and it doesn't work with IBM TSM.
IBM TSM works properly with SAMBA 3.2.15.
Is there any chance to solve this issue in future SAMBA versions?
Best regards

BUG: SAMBA 3.5.x and IBM TSM
Hi,
I'm curious if you have any updates regarding this problem. I'm facing
exactly the same issue.
When I'm trying to make a backup with IBM TSM of a Samba share mounted
under Windows, I keep receiving the error message that "required NT
privilege is not held".
This problem started to appear when I migrated to Samba 3.5.x. With
previous Samba versions, IBM TSM was able to

Suspiciously broken filesystem
I appear to have a broken filesystem on this box to the point where I am
probably going to rebuild the system since I have lost trust in it.... I
was wondering if there was any reasonable postmortum work I could do on
it before it gets rebuilt.
History is that the laptop has a much mauled partition set on it -
initially it came with 100% win2k, I then shrunk that and added linux (a

dmapi doesn't work on aix; possible fix included
I'm running samba 3.0.23c on aix 5.3 TL4. I'm using Tivoli HSM 5.3.4.0
on a JFS2 filesystem. Samba compiled fine, and I set "dmapi support =
yes" in smb.conf, but samba wouldn't recognize offline files ("migrated
files" in tsm terminology). After setting a higher log level I think
I've tracked down the problem. The patch is at the bottom of this email.

ssh2 authentication and ip forwarding
I'd been hoping to move all of our site to ssh protocol 2 whilst we are
still small enough to do this without serious pain, however the lack of
authentication and connection forwarding is making that difficult at
present.
I see the current (2.2.0p1) code base does not have the code on either
client or server side for ssh2 to handle tunneled connections or
authentication agent. Is this

openssh 1.2.1. pre25 and X11 forward
Hello,
I moved my ssh servers to openssh and installed:
openssh-1.2.1pre25 via .rpm
My problem is that X11 forwarding doesn't work.

I start sshd with defaul port and can connect to the server
and then:

StrictHostKeyChecking
Long ago, when I wrote the ssh config file on my desktop box, ssh
(which might have been the non-openssh one) took 3 possible values for
the StrictHostKeyChecking option - yes, no & ask.
Today, when I attempted to connect to a new machine, with no DNS
entries (so using IP address) from my desktop box, ssh (now 2.3.0p1)
SEGVed. Looks like there is some subtle interaction between having an

DSA Auth Key Support
This appears to be rather poorly supported compared to the rsa key
equivalent...
The man page implies that ~/.ssh/authorized_keys &
~/.ssh/authorized_keys2 are similar format. In fact the code will only
read DSA keys from the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys2 file - the options
entries are not supported, and putting options in causes key
recognition to fail.
I guess ideally the key reader needs

ssh/openssh and X authentication
I've currently got a couple of boxes which obtain their IP address via
DHCP, and as a consequence do not have a mapping in /etc/hosts for
their own IP/name... but helpfully (!) they have their name mapping to

This breaks X authentication... - openssh (and also ssh) makes an
apparently valid xauth entry, but all attempts to start clients gives

WINS capabilities
I have set up SAMBA on AIX 4.2 and can attach to NT shares and vice versa. I
acquired and configured SAMBA for basically one reason, that being to gain
WINS client capabilities for AIX. Right now it's not working as expected,
though.
I am implementing Tivoli, and Tivoli requires a bidirectional name to address
resolution in order to register the managed node agent with the Framework. I

Hi,
To to build an RPM from the nut 2.0.3 source I've corrected the old
nut.spec.in file. Please find a copy of the slightly updated spec file
attached. The changes are documented at the bottom of the spec file.

samba GPFS and HSM?
Hi -
I was wondering if any of you may be able to point me in the right direction.
I am in the process of designing a fairly large fileserver solution in an MS Active directory environment.
I have setup and tested ctdb samba, however, after several discussions with a couple of my colleagues, i am now considering a more vanilla flavour of samba. The key features the solution requires are:

IBM GPFS filesystem
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone might be able to speak about using IBM's GPFS
filesystem as a means of storing virtual guests in a clustered environment
with CentOS as the nodes and KVM as the hypervisor?
I'm looking at using IBM's TSM software for archiving data from disk to
tape. This requires buying a license for GPFS which is used in conjunction
with TSM but can also be used

more detail before I leap.

Problems running apps from Samba 2.0.0 share on NT 4.0
Ever since I upgraded from Samba 1.9.18 to 2.0.0, I've been
having problems with applications started from a Samba share dying
silently, or with an Illegal Instruction message, on NT 4.0
Workstation. Since the only configuration change has been the Samba
upgrade, that would seem to be the orgin of the problem. Below is my
smb.conf file, in case I have something configured (or not configured)
