WINBIND RUNS BUT DONT AUTH THE NT USERS
Good morning, I am posting msgs on the NON OPERATION of WINBIND. GOOD I should say that without I had made any change in the system it started to work in an of my facilities. INCREDIBLE but it worked. The problem now is that I tried log in the samba not previously using an user servant in the smbpasswd and him of autentication mistake. But should not WINBIND facilitate that? Do I need to have user

I've got samba-3.0.0-beta3-rc1 running, and am trying to connect to a Windows 2000 domain using security = ADS After following the instructions in the Samba-HOWTO-Collection, I've got kinit working, and am able to browse the Windows 2000 machines shares with smbclient //win2kmixed/c\$ -k without a password. seg fault joining domain
I upgraded my Samba alpha 21 to alpha 22 and the clients stoped accessing the shares. As I have experienced this before, I started the debugging process, until I reached the part of joining the win2k Domain. Thats where things crash with the following message: [2003/03/18 11:13:59, 1] libsmb/clikrb5.c:krb5_mk_req2(256) krb5_cc_get_principal failed (No credentials cache found) [2003/03/18

Unable to join Win2k to Samba Domain
Hi, We have a network of about 20-30 win2k machines in a Samba 2.2.7 (RH7.3) domain. All are joined OK. From yesterday (no idea what changed...), I'm unable to join new machines in the domain... The message from win2k is "The specified user doesn't exist". I join using the root user which is valid (able to connect to shares with this user). If I type a wrong password, I have

Winbind fails to connect to \PIPE\NETLOGON with 3.0.10 and 3.0.9
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Joining a mixed 2000 domain worked correctly for Samba 3.0.2a. After upgrading to either samba 3.0.9 or 3.0.10, the net ads join command completes successfully, and wbinfo -u returns a list of users, but any attempt to actually authenticate those users fails with NT_STATUS_PIPE_NOT_AVAILABLE. wbinfo -t also does not work, and produces the log file

samba-3.0rc1 Can access PDC but not others
Hello, I am trying to migrate an NT domain from an NT PDC to a samba3.0 PDC without disrupting users or requiring them to change passwords, etc. The complication is that there are NT fileservers in the domain already, so it's important that the users be transferred to the samba machine with SID's and RID's intact (so they can access these shares with the same permissions).

Macro expansion in valid users = line?
Hello, Is it possible to put %U or %S in the valid users line? I'm trying: valid users = %D+%U for a certain homedir setup (automagically creates if non-existent), but the level 10 logs show that it always tries: checking |MIXEDDOMAIN+dl| against |%D+%U|, and does not expand the macro. This is with Samba-3.0.0rc2 (happens with beta3 also.) Same thing happens with %U or %S. It worked in

ACLs and Windows 2000 look alike (inheritance of permissions)
I've gotten samba working with ACLs over an XFS filesystem. Everything works pretty well with knowledge of the workarounds (cannot remove group everyone, etc.) The only major problem I have is that ACLs don't inherit correctly. The default in Windows 2000 is to have a sub folder inherit the permissions of the folder it is in on creation. By default, the Samba share's folders don't

WinXP DFS problems, debugging with dfsutil.exe
Hello Johan, I'm having the same problems with DFS and WinXP clients since I upgraded to 2.2.8. I tried to clear the cache on the client side with dfsutil.exe that comes with the Win2000 SP2 but to no avail. Can anyone else confirm this problem? It's also strange that on the WinXP clients the version of the samba server is still registered as a previous version (2.2.6 or 2.2.7).
