Samba converting character set from old Server to new Server
Hy,
I have a SMB Server runing for 2 Year, now is the time to move to a new
more powerful machine . I set up the old smb Server without character set
convertion. Now, I'd like to introduce character set conversion on the new
server.
So, how do I move the files from old to new server with keeping permission,

Samba/Windows XP and SSH tunnelling
Hi,
I've been trying to get SSH tunnelling working with Samba. I'm using a
Windows XP and a RedHat 8.0 box. I've closely followed the instructions from
the HOWTO manual in order to set this up to no avail.
I think the problem comes from the fact that my lmhosts file has no effect
on the NetBIOS name cache when I preload it with the command 'nbtstat -R'. I
checked the

Printing with CUPS and PDF
Trying to get one Samba server to serve several printers through CUPS
and host a virtual PDF "printer" at the same time. I've gotten them
working separately, but not together, and I think I know why.
In the smb.conf man page under "print command":
"With printing = cups, and if SAMBA is compiled against libcups, any
manually set print command will be ignored."

When im logging into another W2K machine

To be exact, this is error:
Winerror.h, 0x000001f = 31 (ERROR_GEN_FAILURE)
If you change the Password of the service on the machine itself

security = server "random" failures
I have a Windows 2K SP2 terminal server and a Samba 2.2.7a
server. The Samba server uses security=server with the 2K
terminal server as the password server. Users log in to the
terminal server and attempt to access (always the same)
share on the Samba box. When there are no sessions open to
the Samba server the connection from the terminal server
always works; subsequent connections (with

Unhandled exception with regsvr32
I've more-or-less successfully installed IE6 under 20050111. It
works fine but PNG's don't display, so I tried reregistering the
pngfilt dll:
wine regsvr32 c:\\windows\\system\\pngfilt.dll
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...
Usage: winedbg [--auto] [--gdb] cmdline
(not sure why the debugger doesn't start properly. I did have
debugging enabled when I

IE7 Sortable Ghosting = true issue
I have a bunch of Sortables that can be dragged and dropped. When I
set ghosting to true, the ghosted image is all garbled on the first
drag in IE7. Every drag thereafter works completely fine. I have
turned off all of our styling to try to isolate the issue, and it
persists no matter what I do. I have also made it so Scriptaculous
only includes the drag and drop and Effects libraries to try

is use rhosts = yes still supported?
I simply cannot get use rhosts = yes to work; whether I have
security set to user or share it will only work if I have
the share set to public (and then it maps to the guest
user). I do have .rhosts files set up with proper
permissions and ownership; I can post details but if this
isn't supposed to work anymore there's no point.

Ghosting features for dragdrop.js preview
To have a look at the new "ghosting" option in dragdrop.js, get
yourself the latest SVN trunk and play around with the
dragdrop_functional_4.html and sortable_function_ghosting.html test
files.
Hope you like it. Some things are broken, and it''s not well tested,
*hint*, but it''s cool stuff. :)
Thanks to xal for suggesting this.

The equivalent of Ghosting the system
If I were to lose my main hard drive, I would like to have the
opportunity to do the same as I can do using Windows: restore from my
USB and have a working system.
If I were to rsync everything on the main drive (excluding the backup
drive, of course and a few other directories) to my USB drive, could I
restore using some CD based version of Linux e.g. Knoppix?

Using variables in virtual resources
Hi.
I''ve defined a virtual user "kenneth", and depending on a variable in the
node definiton I''d like to add the users to different groups. Consider this
example:
###### Code start
node "server.example.com" {
$server_type = "typeA"
realize User[kenneth]
}
@user {"kenneth":
ensure => present,
uid => 1000,
