Is it possible to specify Username/Password in a UNC when connecting to a samba server from W2K?
Hi, Not a Samba question specifically, so please forgive me, but somewhat related... I am trying to automate some tasks in a secure environment (restricted ipsec vpn). Running Windows 2000 (and XP, etc), I would like to be able to access a Samba server using the UNC, but specify a username/password combination as well. You know, in Windows Explorer it allows you to "Connect using a

simple cross-network browsing setup is failing
PROBLEM: Cross-subnet browsing is not working. Browse lists on all machines contain only the machines on the local subnet. SUMMARY OF ANALYSIS: The Local Master Browser (LMB) running Windows XP (ZAYIN) never contacts the Domain Master Browser (DMB) running Samba (BETH) to initiate a synchronization of browse lists.

Do I need a WINS server if I want to browse?
The docs aren't clear, so don't think that I'm being lazy and want a quick answer. (I'm reading Ch 10 of the how-to) On the one hand it says, "where there is no WINS server, all name registrations + name lookups are done by UPD broadcast." So then I don't need a WINS server. But then it says, "Clients wishing to browse the network make use of this [DMB] list

unable to sync browse lists
I'm having two problems. I encountered the second while trying to set up a clean environment to work on the first. Can somebody tell me if (a) I've done something obviously wrong, or (b) this is a known Samba bug? Any help is appreciated. John. First problem: From nmbd: domain_master_node_status_fail: Doing a node status request to the domain master browser for workgroup

WINS + multiple subnets + multiple domains
Hello After seeking solutions and fixes to the problem I'm experiencing and not finding any, I turn here. If there is no solution, please don't be shy to pointing out that too :-) The problem: I have multiple IP-networks with windows clients in them. Some are 95, most are 98, some 2000 and xps. Most networks have at least one NT4.0 server in them, some have more, some have none. Each

Invalid workgroup name in browse list
On my PDC, which is also the DMB, there is a duplicate entry for a trusted domain that is run on an AD controller on the same ethernet segment. The duplicate, though, has several spaces after the name (from browse.dat): "BROADWAY" 80001000 "CALIMERO" "BROADWAY" "BROADWAY " 80001000 "CALIMERO"

2.0.2 servers with 1.9.18p10 DMB?
Have there been any problems reported with running 2.0.2 on servers using security=server with a 1.9.18p10 DMB? We've run into a situation where I've upgraded 4 of our servers to 2.0.2 but the DMB is still running 1.9.18p10. We have had sporatic trouble with the upgraded servers rejecting correct passwords because the DMB seemingly would not properly validate them. Today, we ran into a

[LLVMdev] dmb ishld in AArch64
Hi, I got an optimization problem (O1, O2) regarding memory barrier “dmb ishld” I find in the test/CodeGen/AArch64/intrinsics-memory-barrier.ll , it’s stated that memory access around DMB should not be reordered, but when compiling the Linux kernel, I found load/store in static inline void hlist_add_before_rcu(struct hlist_node *n, struct hlist_node *next) { n->pprev
