Can an xyplot() plus legend be saved as an Enhanced Windows Metafile (EMF)?
I am trying to save some graphical output including a legend in the
Windows Enhanced Metafile (EMF) format.
This fails when xyplot() is used rather than plot().
Here is a simple example:
require(lattice)
a <- c(1:10)
b <- c(2,4,5,2,3,5,7,8,9,5)
# Output can be saved (or copied to the clipboard) as a Windows EMF image
file
# from the Graphics Device output window.
plot(a , b)

array subsetting of S4 object that inherits from "array"
Hi,
I have an S4 class that inherits from "array" but does not add generic
implementations of the "[" method.
A simplified example is:
setClass("fooarray", contains="array")
If I create a "fooarray" object and subset it with a one-dimensional
index vector, the return value is of class "fooarray". Other variants
(see below), however,

row-wise conditional update in dataframe
Hi!
I need to conditionally update a dataframe field based on values in
other fields and can't find even how to search for this right. Sorry
if this has been asked before.
But, specifically, I have a 490 X 221 dataframe and need to count, by
row, how many fields in Dataframe$field_a...Dataframe$field_zz are
non-null and enter this value in Dataset$ABCtaskNum. I have field

generate list of variable names
Hi!
Would anyone know how to generate a list of variable names from a data frame by the class of the variable?
I have large tables with different numbers of columns and am trying to script some rote analyses. There are several categorizing variables (factors) and many response variables (integers and numeric). I want to extract a list of classifier column names in one list and response variable

variable substitution
Hi
I would like to write a script that reads a list of variable names. These variable names are some of the column headers in a data.frame. Then I want do a for-loop to execute various operations on the specified variables in the data.frame, but can't figure out how to do the necessary variable substitution. In bash (or C) I would use "$var", but there seems to be no equivalent in

variable substitution in for loops
Friends
I can't quite find a direct answer to this question from the lists, so here goes:
I have several dataframes, 200+ columns 2000+ rows. I wish to script some operations to perform on some of the variables (columns) in the data frames not knowing what the column number is, hence have to refer by name. I have variable names in a text file "varlist". So, something like this:

How can I batch print html pages
I thought this was easy, but it turns out to be not so obvious.
My problem:
I have a database with hour registration. I need to print out about
hundreds of pages and have them signed by employees. Of course I want to
do this automatically. Up to now I have a collection of html pages (got
them using wget). So the final thing I want is to print them all out in
one go.
How to do that?
I search

Cisco 7912G SIP phone and Asterisk double RTP packets
Hi there,
i did some tests with two Cisco 7912G phones (SIP stack) yesterday. With
both ethereal and tcpdump listening on the Asterisk-Server's NIC, it
came up that all RTP packets were doubled, with some small but almost
constant delay (~460 us).
The setup is
7912G <--> ASTERISK <--> 7912G
The tcpdump output shows RTP traffic ASTERISK --> 7912G:
000000 IP $ASTERISK.17944

Stacking several vectors from the list
Hi everybody,
I'm working on the very
messy data, I have tried to clean it up in SAS and
SAS/IML but there is not enough info on how to handle certain things
in SAS so I have turned to R. The thing itself should be rather
simple, so i was wondering if someone could help me out.
The original .csv has ([1] 7138 6338 ) dimensions with funds with the corresponding dates and observations for each

POTS lines vs. using T1 to connectphoneservices?? HELP
Kevin,
Are you in the US? If so then you've probably got several carriers to
choose from. In my experience analog lines have a flat expense of
$20-$25 per month. That equates to about $140-$175 per month in flat
fees, plus you have usage on top of that. (Your experience may vary.) I
am currently experimenting with a company out of NY called Digizip
(www.digizip.com) that sold me a Qwest

HA8 cards and RED alarm
Hi,
I have 2 servers: one is running 2 B410P cards with 8 euroisdn lines
(mISDN) connected on it, everything runs fine.
I prepare a new server - HP 360 G8- with 2 HA8 cards each of them 1
module of 4 lines. Already had with this machine an RMA on both cards as
they was faulty and crashed the server.
What happends is that when I connect cables on the HA8 modules (those
cables are unpluged

IDLE dropping EXISTS events on mass message arrival
Hi, I'm not sure if this is some throttling/DoS protection or a bug. I
didn't see notice anything like it mentioned looking at the NEWS file
from hg, this is on 2.1.7 on Debian stable.
I have a client doing IDLE on INBOX.vomiteer. When individual messages
arrive with some time interval in between them, I get EXISTS events for
each message as expected.
However, when I store a bunch of
