[LLVMdev] Why can't atomic loads and stores handle floats?
Looking through the documentation, I discovered that atomic loads and
stores are only supported for integer types. Can anyone provide some
background on this? Why is this true?
Currently, given code:
std::atomic<float> aFloat;
void foo() {
float f = atomic_load(&aFloat);
..
}
Clang generates code like:||
%"struct.std::atomic.2" = type { float }
@aFloat = global

[LLVMdev] gcc 4.2 to llvm-gcc 4.2 transition
Hi,
I am currently studying the possibility to make the transition from gcc 4.2 to llvm-gcc 4.2 for the projects I am working on.
These projects are huge projects, most of the source code is written in C++ but we have objc, c and assembly code. We are targeting MacOSX 10.5 and MacOSX 10.6.
Our build system is currently running on MacOSX 10.5 and uses Xcode 3.1.4 with gcc 4.2. It is used to

Does the use of yum priorities take care of this concern?

building initrd.img with updated drivers
Can someone point me to instructions on how to build a
pxeboot/initrd.img with updated drivers. I would like to pxe boot and
install rh8 on a newer machine, and the pxeboot files that come with rh8
(2.4.20-8) don't support my e1000 NIC. I believe that the newer
2.4.20-28.8 drivers will, but I'm having trouble finding instructions in
rebuilding the pxeboot initrd.img + vmlinuz to

where are all the Redhat 8 -devel packages?
I'm probably missing something really simple.
I've installed an RH8 IAM in AWS and I'm trying to build packages on it.
I've noticed there are many *-devel packages that I cannot install:

[ec2-user at site1-vpn ~]$ sudo yum install trousers-devel

moving from RH8 to CentOS5.1
Hi all,
Is there a way to 'automatically' recreate users/permissions when moving
from RH8 (yes, I know...way old) to CentOS5.1 or is it just simpler to
recreate the users manually?
Total users on this system is < 20.
Thanks in advance,

Hi all,
Hoping someone might be able to steer me in the right direction and/or
help me solve my problem.
We have a number of Linux servers (RH6.2 -> RH8) which connect to the
same share on a Win2000 Server. We've been working kinda hard to get
everything upgraded to either RH7.3 or RH8.0 since we rarely get the
opportunity. 2 similar servers (one dev, one prod) access this same

Quick Question
Apologies if there is a cleanly written and searchable FAQ that I could be
directed to. I have no problem to RTFM if I can find the FM...
Does Asterisk currently operate under RH9? I have IBM Netfinity 4000R
servers that do not support X windows under RH8.x and I prefer not to go
back to RH7.3...
BTW, where would I find a useful FM?

RH8 guest: bad fs?
I recently reinstalled RH8 as a VMware guest on a WinXP box.
I used a previously proven script at level 3, containing, in
one line with no inappropriate spaces:
mount -t smbfs -o user,noauto,dmask=777,fmask=777,username=xx,
password=yy //DELLBOX/linuxShare /mnt/linuxShare
I get a failure that reports numerous possibilities including
bad fs, and other other things. I suspect I omitted a

Huh... 2.2.8 exploit?!
... By my mistake a 2.2.8a-1 running on RH8 was exposed to the Internet. It
was cracked in a matter of hours. I noticed it because they've deleted my
smbd. :-|
I'm ready to reinstall the machine, if there are any logs that anybody is
interested into please say it now.

Bizarre problem - happens only under XP and not 2000
I have a very strange problem, which no one has been able to fathom to
this point so I'm hoping that someone here may have encountered
something similar. I'd better note down some background details first.
Relevant machines involved:
Win2K Adv. Server SP3 (acting as Active Directory primary)
Win2K Pro SP3 (authenticates against Win2K server above)
WinXP Pro SP1 (authenticates against

Possible CORS issue
Hi
I'm clutching at straws here.
I have a user who requires access to a status-json.xsl to publish now
playing data for an Alexa skill and this can be accessed via a browser at:
- http://example.com:8000/status-json.xsl
He says that now his PHP script cannot access the file.
I know that Alexa requires *streams* to be served over https but this has
previously worked and his skill is

2GB limit in Samba?
Hi.
Is there such a limit to 2GB in samba 2.2.8a-1? I get a "File imit exceeded"
when I try to tar or cp smth to a smbmount. On both machines I can
successfully do dd if=/dev/zero and create a file of 3GB, I can also tar
-cvf it but no cp to smb. RH8 if it matters...

Miredo 1.1.5
I found a src.rpm for 1.1.5-1 for fc8 (not rh8!). I was able to rebuild
it on my Centos build system.
The rpms are identified as 1.1.5-1.i386.rpm, no el5 or other
identification was placed in the files. I don't see how to control this
when you rebuild from an existing src.rpm. Interestingly the fc8
designation was lost.
I also rebuild it on my fc10 system. It worked, and the rpms have

Home again.
Fixed SSL checking for Redhat 9, I hope. Could someone test if it
actually works now? Also fixed a few compiler warnings. If this thing
works, I'll just update the NEWS file and call it 0.99.10.
