Joining Samba 3.0 to a "pure" Active Directory
Hello. I'd like to join a Samba 3.0 alpha 21 server running on RedHat 8.0 to an Active Directory. This AD does NOT support Windows NT 4.0 Domains. In a previous mail, I've been asked if I already have Kerberos setup and tested. I don't. How do I test if Kerberos is working correctly for me? If everything is working fine, I'd like the Samba server to join the AD

How to join a linux machine to a "pure" Active Directory Domain using Samba 3.0alpha21?
Hello. I've now compiled and installed Samba 3.0 alpha 21 on a Red Hat 8.0 box (since I sadly don't have a current Mandrake box available in our network). Now I'm somewhat lost - what do I have to do, to make the Samba server join the Active Directory (which doesn't support NT 4.0 Domains)? Is "net ads join" the only thing I've got to do? Where do I set which AD

How to join a linux machine to a "pure" Active DirectoryDomain using Samba 3.0alpha21?
net ads join will add your samba box to the windows 2000 domain, and the domain does not have to support mixed mode. You will need to have kerberos setup and tested on your system (linux). Do you already have this done? Errol ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Alexander Skwar <lists.ASkwar@email-server.info> Reply-To: Samba Liste

problme with scp, and suggestion for fix
I recently built openssh 2.1.1p1, under solaris. I noticed that I had problems running scp. It seems that it could not find the executable on the remote end. This was odd, becuase it existed in /usr/local/bin, publically executable, and /usr/local/bin/was in the users' normal PATH (exported, even). So finally, I twiddled the source to make it call /usr/local/bin/scp, instead of just

publishing printer to ADS not working
Hello everybody, I have run into a problem which I am not able to resolve by myself :-( Yesterday I have added a new printer (cups) to a Samba 3.0.28a server. The new printer showed up in the network neighborhood (Windows XP) and I was able to print to the new print queue. Then I tried to publish the new printer to the AD ( we use a windows 2000 server for user administration and GPOs) with the

ADS Join on Windows 2008 domain not working in 3.0.25b?
Hi, Using samba 3.0.25b, testing to join to a Windows 2008 domain using ADS security with kerberos and it doesn't seem to work. Anybody else tried this combination? Same configuration worked joining to a Windows 2003 R2 domain. I'm not a samba expert but looking at the log it looks like the not_defined_in_RFC4178@please_ignore have something to do with it? wbinfo show users from trusted domain
I updated my PDC and BDC to Samba 4.4.7. Compiled from source into /usr/local/samba. On the samba domain controllers "/usr/local/samba/bin/wbinfo -u" shows the local domain users but not the trusted one. Everything indicates trusts are ok # /usr/local/samba/bin/net rpc trustdom list -U Administrator Enter Administrator's password: Trusted domains

File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
We have Samba 3.2.4 on two SLES 10 (one is SP1, the other SP2 64bit) machines. Both are member servers in our ADS, which was over the past month given some additional DCs, new IPs for all DCs, and upgraded to Windows 2008 (from win2003). The krb5.conf and nsswitch.conf files on the two machines are identical; the smb.conf files are *nearly* identical in their common section; the filewall rules

Samba member server and trusted domains question
Hi, I have two Windows Domains, DOMA and DOMB. A Samba 3.6 Server is a member server in DOMA. DOMA has a (unidirectional) trust relationship to DOMB. Users from DOMB should be able to connect and authenticate at the Samba server. The domain controller of DOMB has the IP 10.35.5.25. During authentication of a DOMB user at a share I get the following log entries: get_dc_list: preferred server

Samba 4 "Classic PDC" trusts fail with Win 2012 domain but succeed Win 2008
I am trying to configuring Samba 4 classic PDC to trust Windows 2012 domain "DomainB" - the PDC is running Windows 2012 but the forest and domain functional levels are still Windows 2008. On the Win 2012 PDC I try to set up an incoming trust, but it fails with "The local security authority is unable to obtain an RPC connection to the active directory domain controller

3.0.0, winbind issues
I just upgraded our system here to 3.0.0 from RC4 last night. As usual I built an RPM from the source RPM after adding --with-acl-support to the specfile. I found that unlike previous RCs, RPM would not upgrade to 3.0.0 using -Fvh. In the end I removed RC4 and then installed 3.0.0 in the normal way (backing up and restoring /etc/samba and /var/cache/samba). However, the real issue is that
