Samba PDC/Windows BDC
I have a RH 7.2 PDC which uses DHCP for 2 machines on the network. My Win9x machine as a client/BDC just in case and uses a static IP. If the PDC goes down. I have to put in or take out the PDC's gateway IP and was wondering if there was a way to get ONLY the info I need from DHCP to the Win machine. To attempt to clarify, when the PDC is up, it will assign its gateway IP to the BDC (since it

Missing File
Sometimes an install errors out looking for a file called libc.so.6. I did a locate and the file IS there, it just doesn't see it. I don't want to have to download a 16 meg RPM just for one small file. Does anyone know where JUST this file (most likely updated) can be found by itself? Kev

Application Blocking
On my windows machine I use a software fire will called ZoneAlarm. One feature I like Is the ability to block applications from using the net. I''ve looked with Shorewall and wonder if it does, or was ever meant to. Not a complaint, a curiosity. Kev -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Ghosting Linux Partitions.
I was thinking of putting a slightly bigger HD on my Linux server and would like to know the easiest way. I know that ghost works well on FAT32 partitions, but does it work on Ext3 partitions too? Id rather not reinstall if I don't have to, so any and all suggestions are appreciated. TIA Kev

Help with Winbind
I've been trying for weeks to get winbind working with RedHat Linux 8.0. I've got everything setup per the winbind docs on http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#WINBIND. I've successfully joined my NT4 domain with smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r PDC -U Administrator. Running wbinfo -u returns my domain user list, as well as wbinfo -g returning my domain groups. getent

logon script to adjust time on workstation
Hey everyone, I have what I think is a fairly simple question. In the logon script for users, I have it set to map some drives and set the time on the user's workstation, all Win2K machines. Now, shy of putting everyone in the Administrator's group, how can I have it set the time on that machine? It only successfully works when myself or the other administrator log on to a machine

Winxp netlogon script
Hi all, I am having problems running a logon script from a Winxp pro client. It appears that the logon script is not being run at all. Win98 runs the script fine, but none of the Winxp pro clients are currently running it. I am running RedHat 7.1 with Samba version 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix. My smb.conf is as follows: [global] netbios name = LOKKI server string = Lokki PDC

histogram
Hi all, I have a question about hist() 1) > t1 <- hist(c(1,2,3,4,5)) > t1 $breaks [1] 1 2 3 4 5 $counts [1] 2 1 1 1 why is there 2 counts for 1? And should the counts be '1 1 1 1 1' ? Is there any other function to count frequency of discrete data? Thanks. -k [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

wbinfo -u returns 0xc0000022
Hello, I am attempting to add a Redhat 9 box to our NT4 domain as a member server. I want to enumerate user and group info so I don't have to make two sets of user and group accounts. I've setup samba (version 2.2.7a) and pamd the way I think I'm supposed to, but wbinfo -u always returns 0xc0000022. I've found this particular error mentioned in a few articles, but applying the

Macintosh OS 9.2 and SMB Networks
Some use Dave (http://www.thursby.com/products/dave.html) or DoubleTalk (http://www.connectix.com/products/dt.html). However, we use Netatalk (http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/) successfully to share the Unix/Samba file system with our Mac clients. Is there any reason you can't use Netatalk? Local and Roaming profiles
We're trying to implement a mixed environment with both roaming and local profiles. To differentiate between local and roaming profiles, we use the documented logon path = path for local accounts and logon path = /some/path for roaming accounts. for the logon path to be different, we use include files, since many people have indicated success using this setup. However, we

No Logging for most VFS Operations with full_audit on smbd 4.9.5-Debian
Greetings, I am running audits on a restricted file share for smbd 4.9.5-Debian. Messages go to syslog via local5. I am mostly interested in file access and modification, plus the occasional failed connect. The only operations that yield any results appear to be 'opendir' and 'open'. Unfortunately, 'open' is chatty to an extend as to render logging useless. I am getting

Debugging Samba 4 AD Setup
We're using quite successfully a samba 4.1 AD setup authenticating user. We have on an unregular basis mails that can't be delivered because dovecot-pam fails to verify the credentials. I'm trying to debug this and set the loglevel up to 3. I can see an error message being spammed in the log files and can't figure out what causes this. I expect a configuration error somewhere

Need Methods Around Anonymous LDAP Binding for User Auth
Hi, I've been search for almost a week, and I think I'm at a dead end without a solution. Initially, I wanted to setup a Centos Samba server for Windows users of our company lab, and use our company's AD/LDAP for log-in without creating an account for them. It's all for just to simplify the user's log-in. >From what I've found so far, is that Samba does not

WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Hi, Yes it's possible to authenticate users from win 2000 server with winbind. For me the PAM configuration was the hardest part. I used mandrake 9 and it has a realy good pre config. And if you want to modify the folder/file permissions from NT/W2k PDC then don't use ReiserFS as the filesystem. Use either EXT3 or XFS. Mayby the ReiserFS 4 will have the ACL support. I have had
