Roaming profiles issues
This might be simple, but I have been banging my head against google for awhile now and not an answer in sight... Anyway, Samba PDC with roaming profiles. When a user logs out the profile isn't written because it says that "The specified network name is no longer available" Whatever that is supposed to mean. Following is my smb.conf. Please CC me in replies as I am not subbed to the

Domain logon through VPN with WINS
Hi! I'm experiencing some serious problems setting up Samba as PDC. File sharing works fine and I can even add my computer to the domain, but when I reboot I can't log in with my samba username and password. I've previously set up similiar server, though it wasn't trough VPN. I'm running latest Debian Etch with every package upgraded. I've also tried some older samba

logon.bat and home dir
I recently set up a samba PDC 2.2.8 for testing purposes only. Everything runs well enough now. There is one thing I can't seem to get to work. I made a logon.bat logon script for sharing a share called 'databank' on T: and it works correctly, but trying to get the windows mount the home folder too results in no mounting. That is: no databank and no home folder (on T: and Y:). My

Samba/Windows question: problems loading roaming profiles
Hello everyone! I'm trying (unsuccessfully until now) configure two Samba servers: - Server A. Acting as PDC in a Windows 2000/XP domain and as profile server. - Server B. Acting as profile server. I have users whose profiles are in server A and others whose profiles are in the server B. The server where each user's profile lives is identified by the main group (GID) of the user (that

Winbind can do everything besides lookup by name
Hi, I have winbind joined to a Win2003 AD domain with rid idmap backend. Almost everything's working. wbinfo -u and -g work fine, as does getent passwd and getent group. I can also getent by ID number. The only thing I can't do is getent by name, which is preventing logins: root@services2:/etc/pam.d# net ads testjoin Join is OK root@services2:/etc/pam.d# getent passwd | grep david.croft

Is the term 'home dir' and 'roaming profiles' different?
Hello, I've just been exploring Samba again after some time, and this time I'm setting a Samba PDC with LDAP. Thanks for great tutorial from Samba website, I think I got it working fine :) However, I've been browsing the list too, and am a bit confused with the term: 'homedir' and 'roaming profiles'. Is it different? If I'm not mistaken, homedir is for Win9X

Ed and I have been working on this for some time now, and while your solution wards off potential future problems, it doesn't fix the current problem. We're not having the typical 'My

Samba 2.2.7 as PDC causing BSOD on 2K domain logon
Hello, Have wrestled this one for about a week, now, getting frustrated ;-) Running samba as PDC for my domain (cf. smb.conf further down) When logging in on my 2K Pro machine, I first get a "can't find roaming profile, attempting local profile"-error, but logon using my user's smb account accepts only the correct password and so the identification part works well. Roaming profiles problems Samba 3.0.2a / Win XP Pro/Win2K
Hi guys, I'm experiencing seemingly random problems using roaming profiles with Samba 3.0.2 on Debian Woody and clients being Win XP Pro and Win2K (all of them running the latest service packs and critical updates and so forth). Sometimes when one of the machines tires to login the server profile can't be found. The error Windows comes up with is "Network name cannot be found."

R: dplyr, doBy, and ggplot2 in CentOS7
You can install any R packages from CRAN using the ?"install.packages()" command form within R itself. This will download, compile, and install the packages into your personal user account. you might need to install some supporting *-devel RPM packages via "yum", but otherwise, it should work. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jason
