Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4
Hello.
Anyone else experiencing Problems with this update ?
We do have W2k AD. And Samba Member-Server. This is done via Winbind
without using Kerberos.
After installing the Update to our AD-Servers. It seems that winbind lost
its connectivity.
wbinfo -t worked.
wbinfo -u showed errors.
After removing the update from all our servers, winbind works again.
Should I move our configuration to

after upgrade from 3.0.7 -> 3.0.14 extrem slow access from window s 2000
Hello list,
a samba server serves the home directories for about 100 Windows 2000
clients.
We had samba 3.0.7 (on debian woody) installed, and upgraded to 3.0.14a (we
used the sernet packages on debian sarge).
Now access to files from windows 2000 clients is extremely slow, especially
on .exe files. Simply selecting a exe file from windows explorer may freeze
it for 2-10 seconds. Other file

Domain member seems to work, wbinfo -u not
Hello everyone,
any ideas on why a newly installed domain member (w2k8 domain) might seem to work fine in every test (wbinfo -g, wbinfo -t, getent group, wbinfo -n username, getent passwd user, share-access.., ) but only enumeration of users with wbinfo -u and getent passwd fail?
wbinfo -u just returns without any output and getent passwd just shows the default centos7 users.
Even with

Samba 3.0 won't join Samba-TNG domain
Hi,
I posted this problem before in more detail
(http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&m=104756899022766&w=2) but received
no response.
At the current state of Smaba 3.0 and Samba-TNG these two seem to be
incomaptible. Samba 3.0 can't join a TNG controlled domain.
I think this should affect a lot of installations as TNG as a controller and
"stable" as file/printserver seem

Unix Group Question with repect to Samba
I have a question with regards to using Unix groups with samba. This might
be easier to explain with an example.
Lets say I have two users
UserID: GID
UserA:Group1
UserB:Group2
etc.....
I now have an entry in /etc/group that looks like
groupdev::UserA, UserB
If I have a directory with group ownership set to "groupdev" and group mode
"rws"
UserA & UserB cannot create a

AW: Unable to open configuration file "/etc/smb.conf"
Try these two:
bash> which testparam
should tell you which testparam is being started. Is it where you expect it
to be?
bash> strace /full/path/testparam
Gives you information on all system calls called from within testparam. It
will give quite a bit of output and somewhere near the end you will find
something like:
open("/usr/lib/smb.conf", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = ...

security = problems
Is there a way to have users of the samba server, but not add them by
smbpasswd -a <UserID>?
I want the samba server to be a domain member and the users to only
authentic from the PDC. These are the steps that I have attempted:
Users are in both the Windows domain and the UNIX NIS account
1. smbpasswd -j <Domain> -r PDC -U <admin>

logging problems
Hi!
I'd also like to report a strange logging problem I have.
OS: Solaris 2.8
rsync version: 2.6.7
When I run rsync in daemon mode invoked at a command prompt, it does log information in my configured log file (i.e. /var/log/rsyncd.log). But when I invoke it via inetd with an entry in inetd.conf, it does not log any information.
rsync version 2.5.6 did not have this problem.
My inetd.conf

AW: Unable to open configuration file "/etc/smb.conf" (or whereve r i specify)
Hi,
it looks like you have something really messed up on your system.
The size of the file is 1243 bytes (from strace) but 0 bytes are being read.
If you had no permission to read the strace would have looked like this:
open("/etc/samba/smb.conf", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = -1 EACCES (Permission
denied)
A quick look at the source code reveals:
/etc/samba/smb.conf is opened in file_load

Gluster failure due to "0-management: Lock not released for <volumename>"
By any chance are you having any redundant peer entries in
/var/lib/glusterd/peers directory? Can you please share the content of this
folder from all the nodes?

PAM problem with Samba and Winbind (on Solaris 2.8)
I am having a problem getting samba and winbind to work correctly.
I installed Samba 2.2.7a (which includes Winbind, because I compiled the
source code with "./configure --with-winbind" ) on a Solaris 2.8 server.
On solaris 2.8 server, I joined a PDC successfully, and I can see all unix
and PDC user accounts using:
/usr/local/samba/bin/wbinfo -u
and, I can see all unix and PDC
