Please Help - WINS server problems
Hello, We are successfully using Samba with a remote WINS server which is located on another site. We have a second site (Worcester) which has successfully been using the same WINS server and communicating with our Samba servers (Shipley5 and Shipley6). Recently the PCs in Worcester have been unable to connect to our Samba server in Shipley. The other site uses a different DHCP server to our

I'm running Samba 3.0.9 on SLES9 as a domain member with an NT4 PDC, using winbind to authorise domain users. I have set up a general share for all users which works fine and is accessible by all users but I am unable to set up the home shares correctly. When attempting to connect via smbclient I get the following:- tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED What does this mean and where

Bivariate normal regression in R
Hello everyone, I need to fit a bivariate normal regression model to a dataset where the same covariate (say, X) influences two separate but correlated responses (say, Y1 and Y2). So, the bivariate model would look like : Y1 = a1 + b1*X + e1 Y2 = a2 + b2*X + e2 where e1 and e2 are error terms which can be correlated. Is there any package in R which can help me fit this model ? Any help will be

Mount AD home directory and login on Ubuntu Workstations
Hi, In a school environment, I have a server (NEWTON) that acts as AD DC (domain DIDATTICA) and another one (EULER) that acts as File Server (Domain Member of DIDATTICA). Both of them have Ubuntu Server 16.04.5 LTS and Samba 4.9.1. (At the bottom I attached their smb.conf). The users are divided in groups: students, teachers, admin. Each user has a "home directory" where can save his

wine.conf newbie problem +user32.dll
I seem to have gotten past one hurdle and on to the next. It seems that the problem that I was having relates to poorly documented changes in the config files in the HOWTO. I now have /root/.wine/config which seems to solve the old drive problem. However, here is my new error. [root@pato .wine]# cp /etc/wine.conf ~/.winerc cp: overwrite `/root/.winerc/wine.conf'? y [root@pato .wine]# wine

I found different libraries for partial correlation but could not find anything related to part correlation. Dynamic Home Shares
Hello, I am attempting to dynamically create user shares when they connect to the server based on their username. I cannot use [homes]. My reasoning for this is that the users require a $ at the end of the share or it becomes confusing to them(long story). What I'm seeing is that some Windows XP clients will connect to /home/<username> but other clients try to connect to

Testing whether a number belong to a set
Hello everyone, I am stuck with an apparently simple issue : i) I have two sets S1 and S2, each containing a large number of integers, say zip codes. ii) Now, I just want to test whether a particular zip code belong to S1 or S2 or neither of them. iii) If it belongs to S1, the area/region gets a particular label, say 1; if it belongs to S2, it gets a label 2 and if it doesnot belong to either S1

Comments / suggestions wanted - Winbind, 2K, and user Homes
I have a single AD domain with 4 domain controllers (win2k-not native mode). I want all users to login to AD (clients from 98 to XP - no linux clients yet). This is a school network with 4 campuses connected by wireless links (hence the 4 domain controllers) and I would like to put a samba server at each location for student home directories (basically a NAS setup to start with). There will

Subject: Re ZINB by Newton Raphson??
I have not included the previous postings because they came out very strangely on my mail reader. However, the question concerned the choice of minimizer for the zeroinfl() function, which apparently allows any of the current 6 methods of optim() for this purpose. The original poster wanted to use Newton-Raphson. Newton-Raphson (or just Newton for simplicity) is commonly thought to be the

winbind normalize names = yes disable winbind cache mechanism and cause LDAP heavy load / poor performances
Context : client linux Ubuntu 12.04 SSO authentification against Microsoft 2008 AD server, Winbind 3.6.3 (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Linux 3.2.0-27-generic, winbind 2:3.6.3-2ubuntu2.3 ) I'have discovered that setting option "winbind normalize names = yes" cause winbind client to send LDAP search for each username/group resolution even those in cache. Newton method
Hi r-users,   I hope somebody can help me with this code. I would like to solve for z values using newton iteration method.  I 'm not sure which part of the code is wrong since I'm not very good at programming but would like to learn.  There seem to be some output but what I expected is a vector of z values.  Thank you so much for any help given.   newton.inputsingle <-
