Problems with SAMBA 2.2.2 Locking Databases Running on HP-UX 11.00 64 Bit
Hi, I have been trying to get Samba 2.2.2 to run on HP-UX 11.00 64 bit, but seem to be running into problems with the locking databases. (Note : this is running the smb.conf file from the examples directory in SAMBA 2.2.2). I have tried to two different servers and both of them generate the same result described below. The problem I have hit is after compiling samba and starting up the system

Error: Failed to initialise locking database
Greetings! After successfully setting up the printer using my RedHat Linux 7.2 (using command-line interface), and after installing my ethernet card (again, using command-line interface), I've tried to setup my linux server to share the printer with Windows-based machines. I thought I pretty much did everything right, but when I type a "smbstatus", I get the following: >Samba

Problem with hidden files
Hello all, I'm working with a CAM package running on Windows 2000 OS (Service Pack 2). This CAM should write its output to Sun Blade 100 workstation with Solaris 8 OS. On the Sun I installed Samba (ver 2.2.2). The output of the CAM is a directory that includes plain ASCII files. Before starting the output, the CAM creates a directory and an empty .lock file inside. When the output is

Samba 2.2.5 - can't initialize locking module`
I have just upgraded a RedHat 6.2 box from Samba 2.0.10 to Samba 2.2.5 in one of our elementary school buildings because we now have some w2k boxes that must log to the domain. I'm now getting an error on initializing the locking modules when I run smbstatus. I did the upgrade remotely so I don't know yet whether workstations work properly with the upgrade. Bytle Locking
I am running RH8 with Samba 2.2.6. I am attempting to connect a Win2k box to my Linux box. I "see" Linux in Network Neighborhood, I can ping the Win2k BIOS name, and I can ping the Linux box BIOS name. However When I click on accessing linux I get resource not available. And when I run smbstatus I get the following: Samba version 2.2.6 Service uid gid pid machine

cannot kickstart centos 6 on Dell Blade error cannot find c0t0
I have an intermittent problem with my Dell blades, out of 80 blades 69 of them kickstarted Centos 6 fine using PXE The other 11, I get a c0t0 not found error (indicating it is not finding the local disk on the blade). I can remote mount the iso image and do a basic install of centos on these blades, but when I go to do a pxe boot it gives me that error again. I have googled the issue and

R and Openmpi
Hello, We have R working with Rmpi/openmpi, but I'm a little worried. Specifically, (a) the -np flag doesn't seem to override the hostfile (it works fine with fortran hello world) and (b) I appear to have twice as many processes running as I think I should. Rmpi version 0.5.5 Openmpi version 1.1 Viglen HPC with (effectively) 9 blades and 8 nodes on each blade. myhosts file contains

GFS2 hangs after one node going down
Hi guys, my goal is to create a reliable virtualization environment using CentOS 6.4 and KVM, I've three nodes and a clustered GFS2. The enviroment is up and working, but I'm worry for the reliability, if I turn the network interface down on one node to simulate a crash (for example on the node "node6.blade"): 1) GFS2 hangs (processes go in D state) until node6.blade get

Is there a howto for using redboot to kickoff a pxelinux boot?
The subject says it all. I'm using rocks cluster software to startup a small blade cluster in my lab. The blades I have redboot installed on them. I am able to boot any client that has pxeboot capability using my setup, except for these blades. My thoughs were using redboot commands to do the following: 1. load -v -r -b 0x8000000 -h 10.1.1.1 pxelinux.0 2. start This however caused my

LiveCD problem on IBM BladeCenter remote console ?
I've got a IBM BladeCenter with its integral TCPIP KVM and centos and stuff running on various blades, we use this mostly for software testing purposes in a small development group. i wanted to boot the liveCD so I could try and recover some files from a totally screwed up system (disk got fsck'd beyond what I feel comfortable repairing)... so I map an ISO image of the CentOS 4.4

How are you verifying? Have you tried using top and looking for smbd and nmbd? Swat may be giving you erroneous info if that is what you are using to verify. Network issue - Windows works but CentOS does not
I am having an extremely strange issue with a BL460c1 (G1) blade on a c7000 enclosure. I could not for the life of me get the machine to ping the gateway or any other blade on the same enclosure (yes, the subnet mask was correct & quadruple-checked); although pinging to the local IP works. I was almost convinced that it was a network or hardware issue; until I asked someone to try

filesystem mounting fails at boot
Hi I have an IBM blade with internal harddisks, in hardware RAID1. I've installed a CentOS 6 64bit on it, everything works just fine. After the installation, I've presented a vdisk to the blade from an external SAN (an HP EVA4000), connected through FiberChannel. I've partitioned the disk, formatted it and mounted it under /store, then added it to fstab. Everything was fine, until I

Migration from VMWare to HP Blade
Hi all, A few months ago, I migrated some of our internal servers to HP blades, as the VMWare box they were previously running on was getting too slow. However, it wasn't without it's problems, and eventually the only way I could get them to work was: Install the same version of CentOS on the blade (believed to be 5.0, but /etc/redhat-release says 5.2) Took down both servers, booting

filesystem mounting fails at boot
_netdev The filesystem resides on a device that requires network access (used to prevent the system from attempting to mount these filesystems until the network has been enabled on the system). This device is not a network device (this a SAN not a NAS). To the OS it looks like a normal SCSI attached device, it's /dev/sdb. In the blade there is a HBA (Qlogic) card, and it's
