Samba 3.0.2a problems on Solaris 8
Tried to upgrade our Samba 2.2.8a domain controller (Solaris 8) to Samba
3.0.2a. Compiled using gcc 3.3.2, linked to libiconv-1.8, popt-1.7 and
cups-1.1.20.
I shut down the Samba 2.2.8a. Removed everything in var/locks. Did a
"make install" to install 3.0.2a, then restarted Samba. My smb.conf is
basically the same as 2.2.8a with "domain admin group" removed.

Error trying to resolve symbol 'init_module'
Hi:
I've just installed Samba 3.0.0 on FreeBSD 4.9-RELEASE, and it appears to
work correctly, but I get the following errors when running 'net' or 'smb*'
commands. The install was from source with no changes made to default. i.e.
'./configure; make; make install'.

libiconv problems
Hello all,
OK - Im kind of stumped on this one and google wasnt much help. Its
probably something stupid and obvious, but I could use another pair of
eyeballs.
When compiling Samba 3.0.5 on Solaris 9 (using the Sun directory server
5.1 as the LDAP, but compiled against the OpenLDAP libraries in
/usr/local/lib) I got the following error during the make:
lib/iconv.c: In function `sys_iconv':

3.0.22 on solaris9 does not start as daemon
I'm trying to start smbd (samba 3.0.22) as daemon (smbd -D
--configfile=/etc/smb.conf) on solaris 9 sparc with current recommended
patches but the smbd process never returns from trying to become a daemon.
Samba was built with ldap, (heimdal) kerberos and active directory support
using gcc 3.3.2 from sunfreeware. Solaris 9 is a new install on a
development
machine with production patches.

(Cross ) Install and Conversion problem
With some extra effort of
export samba_cv_CC_NEGATIVE_ENUM_VALUES=0
I could compile Samba3 for ARM.
(./configure --host=arm-none-linux-gnueabi --build=i686; make)
As I couldn't install samba on my host with make install (as I
compiled on Intel machine) I just
- copied smbclient, libwbclient.so,
- created an empty /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf
- and copied lowcase.dat and upcase.dat to that

samba-3.0.23d server doesn't join in domain
Hi,
We are testing the samba-3.0.23d in a samba server as role member in a
domain with PDC (samba-3.0.20) and ldap as backend.
The first tests don't left us join the machine in the domain, the
following is showed:

Conversion error: Illegal multibyte sequence
Hello list,
I've noticed this problem for a few years now, I think. I see it popped
out now and then in discussions. But they always end before a solution
is given.
So let's try one more time :-)
I have plenty of UTF-8 named files and directories. It's UTF-8 all
round, I don't use anything else, so I have no doubt the byte sequences
are correct in the filesystem (I happen to
