samba-2.2.2 and Linux 2.2.20 replacing Win2K?
Hi there,
I was wondering if you could give me some pointers as to how to get rid of the
spooge of microsoft from our office, and have samba-2.2.2 assuming file sharing
duties (read this as the Boss isn't happy with all the win2K crashes on the
NIC's)
The machine is a Pent-III 850Mhz w/256MB, dual NIC's, and 2 HD's (IDE) with
/dev/hda1 being where the OS is stored, and /dev/hdb1

NT domains authentication problem
I'm trying to get Samba 2.2.3a (as distributed with SuSE 8.0) working
inside our NT domain . I'm prompted for a username and password when I try
to map the share to a network drive from my Windows PC, but my Windows
logon and the matching password are rejected. Stepping through
DIAGNOSIS.txt and using smbclient on the Samba server itself, I've got as
far as step 7 before things

samba internal error ... panic ...
Hi, i have a big problem with my samba installation. After a few days of
work the samba crashed and it won't be able to login into the console. The
only way is to reboot the machine. My Samba logfile prints out the following

standalone file and print server inside SAMBA network problem
Hi,
I have an existing Samba network consisting of a SAMBA PDC with win98
and XP clients (there is also some linux machines on the network
connecting via NIS/NFS.
Everything is running nicely.
Now I want to add a samba print server to the domain.
All this server needs to do is share a printer for the domain.
For some reason I cannot get this printer server to share anything.
Not even it's

error: prs_mem_get: reading data of size 60 would overrun buffer.
Hello everyone,
we try to use a server running linux in an NT-domain and get the error message
given in the subject-line. More details from the logfile and smb.conf are given below.
Can anyone give us a hint what the problem is?
(Of course...) The problem is very urgent for us.
Thanks a lot in advance.

[LLVMdev] llvm/tools/lto* rename heads up
I have experienced this with a svn 1.5 client but not with 1.4.6.
Did anybody see this with a 1.4.6 (or older) client?
Btw. what is the server version?
Anyway this seems to be a bug in subversion.
Cheers,
Gabor

Samba related Student Project
Hi all
I am doing a final year project which is to develop a web-based
application that allows accessing a samba PDC through a browser. The
application is to allow an administrator to modify computer and user
accounts in smbpasswd file and allow access to smb.conf. I am seeking
help from you if you know an application like that already exist so that I
can benefit from it. Note that I use

Java with Scriptaculous
I know that the prototype library was paired with Rails but I''m curious
if anyone has used the ajax part (of the libraries) with java servlets?
If so could you please point me to some examples or documentation.

R Memory Usage Concerns
Hello all,
To start with, these measurements are on Linux with R 2.9.2 (64-bit
build) and Python 2.6 (also 64-bit).
I've been investigating R for some log file analysis that I've been
doing. I'm coming at this from the angle of a programmer whose
primarily worked in Python. As I've been playing around with R, I've
noticed that R seems to use a *lot* of memory, especially

running a background task/thread in rails?
Hi, I am new to ruby and to rails, but I like what I see so far. I have
been working on a web app in java (servlets and JSPs) that, based on a
request from the user, kicks off a thread in the background to perform a
task (puts messages in an MQSeries queue). The thread object is stored
in the session and I then allow the user to control the task from the
browser(like stop it).
Is the same

cgi/servlets/httpd in R
Hi R-helpers
Has anyone had any experience doing CGI or Servlets or using an httpd
server in R?
Context: we are interested in running dynamic demographic calculations
on the internet (life tables, and such) in response to form submissions.
I might do simple cgi to get started, but loading in data each time
seems like it would be quite, quite slow.
I have looked at Rserv, but I am most

Beginner question: serverside singletons?
Hello all, just started tinkering with Rails after reading all the hype about
it. I''m a raw novice with Ruby and (obviously) Rails, but have extensive
experience with serverside Java (J2EE stack, Tapestry, etc). Rails looks
cool, though embedding Ruby code in HTML reminds me unpleasantly of JSP +
Struts and I''m deeply suspicious of all the behind-the-scenes magic going on

Threads in camping

similar thing is possible in camping.
