logs such as messages, boot.log, and kernel contained 0 size
Hi, My both CentOS 5 servers have logging problems. Logs such as messages, boot.log, kernel, spooler, and tallylog in /var/log directory are all 0 size. The kernel is: Linux 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5 #1 SMP. Since the /var/log/messages contained no information it would be impossible to troubleshoot the problem. I am very sure both systems have not been hacked by others. Sincerely, Frank Ling

Wine07252005 spooler problem
Hi, I installed Wine07252005, my printer is EPSON LX 300X, it's CUPS, the name is EPSON9Pin. I tested it with a simple Delphi program and have two problems: 1) If i print using a report builder like RBuilder, it prints quite well, but the font does look good in the print out. 2) If I use spooler to print, like following: if StartDocPrinter(PrnHandle, 1, @DocInfo) = 0 then begin

Print spooler full with completed print jobs
Hi, I have Panasonic KX-P7105 printer connected through LPT1 port to the "D-link DP-101P+" print server. This printer is defined as raw and I am using it only for printing from different windows clients. Drivers are only on windows client side. On linux side I never print one page. Suddenly, in windows print spooler I can see already printed documents from every user. As

Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spooler
I have encountered a strange printing problem with Samba 2.2.4 running under HP-UX 11i. In the process of investigating a printing problem, I have found that Samba has stopped passing jobs along to the UNIX lp spooler as of yesterday afternoon. When NT/W2K clients print to printers on my server, the jobs are accepted, Samba spool files are created in the spool directory defined for the printer

Point and Print problem 2.2.7A and 2.2.8
I have detected significant performance slow down when I use PnP driver with versions 2.2.7A and 2.2.8. It happened with all kinds of Windows OS (exclude 9x) when user has administrative rights to Samba based printers. In Windows system event viewer I see that spooler retrieves printer driver files from Samba server to Window machine a lot of times. It happened each time when I try to update

"Ghost" print job.
Hi all, I'm currentlly using samba-2.2.2 together with LPRng-3.7.4, and have a problem with a printjob that woun't go away. I use samba for a small file/printserver for 10 people using win98se clients, and it's been working very nicely. As I upgraded from samba-2.0.6, I sent out a testpage from one of the win98se clients to the two printers (hpljet 6L, Epson stylus photo 750) we have

www = wine won't work :-(
Just upgraded from 1.1.14 (that worked fairly well on some apps) to 1.1.15 on Ubuntu and it just plain won't work. Not even winecfg works. I get this for winecfg: fixme:advapi:RegisterEventSourceW ((null),L"Print"): stub fixme:ds:DsRoleGetPrimaryDomainInformation ((nil), 1, 0x32eff0) stub fixme:advapi:LsaOpenPolicy ((null),0x32ef98,0x00000001,0x32efb4) stub fixme:advapi:LsaClose

New printing concept of wine
Hi, I´m allways using the recent versions from cvs (prebuild from dailywine) and I stated that I have to reconfigure my wine printing. Before I used the wineps.drv driver but now wine seams to work with the printers defined in /etc/printcap. But there are some little questions left by me although I got it printing well: 1. How can I make another printer as default printer different from the

Print spooler dies?
I am using samba 2.2.5 and cups 1.1.4 as a print server. Everything is working well, except occasionally the spooler service on my user's machines will randomly die. This happens across platforms (2k, NT, XP) and never happened with the same drivers/setup on the WinNT print server that I have just replaced. I've attached a link to my setup file. Let me know if you have any ideas. My

Print Migrator help needed...
Hi, I am trying to migrate print queues from a windows server to a samba share. 1. I ran printmig.exe on the windows server. 2. Backed up the printers on the windows servers to a cab file. 3. Tries to restore the printers to the sambashare by specifying the target as //sambaShare. But I get the following error: 2006:01:25 15:35:38 Access Granted to: \\sambaShare 2006:01:25 15:35:38

Print driver deployment broken after KB3170455 on Windows 7
Hi, Since recently printer deployment is broken on Windows 7 (and above?) due to KB3170455. This is probably the same problem https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-August/202078.html on Win 10. After a lot of reading and investigating it appears that we now (after KB3170455) need: - A Point & Print Restriction GPO enabled with FQDN of all Print Servers and "Do not show warning

samba-tool and --kerberos
You're right, but I tried successfully -k only with smbclient which accept -U and -k together (now I'm here I must say smbclient uses -k without argument). For net command I was not able to make -k nor "--kerberos yes" m707:~# net rpc service list --kerberos=yes Could not connect to server 127.0.0.1 The username or password was not correct. Win2K Printer Driver Problems - Hi Jerry!!
Nope, close but no cigar. With 2.2.6Pre2 Word started to behave itself but Outlook acts as though landscape is a foreign concept(i.e everything prints portrait regardless of page setup). Spoolsv also crashes on the Win2K workstations requiring a manual restart of the spooler service. We will downgrade to 2.2.5 and try Jerry's patch. In another message Jerry talks about "running"

Opening files issue.
Hi all. I've looked, and I do recall a posting from earlier addressing this, but I can't get the right combo of key-words to google up the solution. If I open a file (say a .doc) from windows explorer, the program launches and that file loads quickly. If I use the open dialogue from the application, the file loads slowly. Looking in performnce monitor I see that if I load the file from

Drop in NT print server replacement; NT print names and NT share names-how to handle with Samba
Hello samba list members, I am going to be replacing out NT print server with a linux/samba solution. My main problem/question is how will the NT clients deal with the Samba server when the following facts are true. 1. NT creates an NT printer name 2. When you actually share the printer, you can create a totally different share name. For example we have the following printer, (and numerous

Infinite loop shutting down xendomains
Pardon me for a long detailed post but this looks pretty serious. The bottom line is that, when I attempt to shut down or reboot my simple xen-2.0.7 server running FC3 with two domUs, shutting down xendomains appears to send python into an infinite loop. This may be due to a serious misconfiguration on my part but it is certainly a big problem. If we shutdown the domUs manually first, the
