Problem accessing Windows printer from Linux side
I am using Red Hat 8.0 with KDE, and I have installed samba-common and samba-client packages, version 2.2.7-4.8.0. The Windows server is a Windows 2000 Server with a HP LaserJet 4500. I can use "smbclient -L //server -U user" to view the shares. After setting up in the Red Hat Printer Config, now I can see the status of the printer is "Idle (accepting jobs)" in the

Changing SWAT port or removing 2.2.7
Some of you have already read about my newbie fortune with this Samba3 install. Thanks to those who answered my original questions. Now I have something which I know is probably academic, and perhaps still newbie-related. When I installed Samba3 on Friday, it took me a little while to figure out that my names required adding a 3 to the end (SWAT3, SAMBA3, TESTPARM3, et al). I did not uninstall

Printing to XP printer
I am having a bit of a problem getting my Samba printer configuration to work with Windows XP(I am running samba on Linux Redhat 7.3). My other shares seem to work as I can find my files on the my Linux system using XP. I have used redhat 7.3 kde printer configurations to create the appropriate files. The result is when I try to send a print job the printer kicks into to gear but only a blank

Newbe samba confusion - windows to samba to lpd which driver does the translation?
I'm trying hard to understand some very basic samba working. If I'm asking the question in the wrong list could somebody kindly re-direct me. When a print job is sent from a windows machine to a printer on a linux samba server there are a number of 'drivers' (actually just translators) involved: First the windows machine puts the text and or graphics through the windows

Print Jobs stuck in queue
Hi, I have a RedHat7.3 distro running Samba-2.2.3a. I've never had this problem before 2.2.x versions of samba. I'm using domain security and sharing 2 printers, an HP4050 and Ricoh. Everyone can print fine except that, seemingly randomly, printjobs end up in the queue as paused (according to winXPpro and Win98). Nobody can unpause or delete them. The only way to remove them is to

Printing with Samba 2.2.5 and lprng
Hello, Excuse me for my English. I use an impression (not yet;) and file server samba 2.2.5 on a red hat 7.2. I try to print starting from a station under Windows 2000 but I obtain the error "the handle is invalid". I installed the drivers for my impimante on the W2000 station but I would like to also know if the drivers of the printer are necessary for the W2000 workstation AND

i can't print directly to my samba printer server...
Hi there Brian! I've seen your email on one of the samba mailing list. This has been my problem for a long time. I just want to share this problem directly to you and i hope you can lend me your help. I'm trying to setup windows printer sharing using SAMBA installed on my Linux box (Redhat 7.3 as printer server) and windows 2000 pro as my client. My win2k clients are connected to a

Docs are hard to follow for port changing
Specifically, the instructions on the Samba3 doc file explain that I must edit the following information (as did John): Make an entry in /etc/services for a line called "swat". I've done that, it's called "swat3", and it ports to 902/TCP (Yes, I realize it's not the native port.) Make the adjustment in the /etc/xinet[d].d/swat3 file to point to the same port.

Printing question
Hello all. I have a question about setting up samba to serve windows printing. I have been trying to research this but keep coming up with conflicting howto's. Can someone give me directions to an up-to-date print howto? It would be greatly appreciated as I am stuck on this. DNS server and printing.
Good afternoon, This is my first post, so please be gentle ;) Anyway, here's my question....I've recently put together a Linux Server for our company, replacing an old Novel server. I have the box set up with Samba, as a PDC on our network. So far, just about everything is working correctly. One issue I'm coming up against, though, is printing from DOS. I have Samba

Trouble with root password in SWAT
I have been kind of fortunate in adjusting my SWAT information, and now can reach the SWAT3 interface through port 902 (thanks!), but now I have an even more interesting snag. Konqueror and Mozilla, when going to localhost:902 (what I set SWAT3 to respond to), will prompt a login box. The site is called "SWAT at localhost". I put in the root username, and the root password. It then

understanding virtual classes and extensions thereof
I am having some trouble creating a hierarchy of virtual classes (akin to the class structure in the 'Matrix' package). I think they arise from my not understanding the best way to specify virtual subclasses of a virtual class. please see questions below code. setClass("mom") setClass("kid1", representation("mom", "VIRTUAL"))

Unable to print correctly html on Windows Printer (SMB) Share
Hi All, After connecting a HP DeskJet 950C printer to my NT Server and configuring it as a share printer, I used samba and printconf to connect to it. I setup the printer in printconf as a Samba (SMB) Printer/Windows Printer (SMB) Share After restarting the lpd daemon, I can print successfully the ASCII test page and other linux files, e.g. smb.conf, /etc/fstab, etc. My problem is that I am unable

workaround for debug info bug?
Seems like something infinite-recursion like to me: $ clang --version clang version 6.0.0 (trunk 317833) Target: powerpc64le-unknown-linux-gnu $ clang -c test.ll warning: overriding the module target triple with powerpc64le-unknown-linux-gnu [-Woverride-module] ... #255 0x0000000012b07a78 llvm::DwarfUnit::getOrCreateTypeDIE(llvm::MDNode const*) ... [LLVMdev] ToT ARM Code generator causing - Error: invalid constant (xxx) after fixup in assembly output
Hello, This problem happens in ToT under specific conditions - namely there is a big BB#671 basic block of code the just copies data from memory location to another. At the beginning of BBB#671 r0 is loaded from the jumptable in the constant pool immediately after it. Displacement from the pc in this case is #1476 which is way above magic #1020 hence the error after fixup. Both
