Asterisk not recognizing key beeps
Hello, So far everything that I'm trying with asterisk is working except for this weird thing. When I try to call voicemail and it asks me for the password I enter it in but from the debug message I can see that it thinks I didn't enter anything in. Also when I'm leaving a message it sais press pound to end, but even if I press it 10 times it keeps on recording until I hang up. It

Hi samba --version Version 4.0.6-GIT-4bebda4 smb.conf: [users] path = /home/users read only = No Working on the DC which is also the fileserver user steve2 can write to his folder at /home/users/steve2 But if we now mount the share: sudo mount -t cifs //doloresdc/users /mnt -osec=krb5,multiuser he can't write to the mounted share at /mnt/users/steve2 He gets 'Permission denied'.

limits.conf
Hello, I understand the function and reason of limits.conf, and I have some limited experience configuring values for (essentially single-user) Oracle systems. How do I understand correctly what my limits should be for multiuser system system, are there best practice guidance? Are there some typical settings this list has had experience with for multiuser environments? Appreciated, Eugene

About Samba and russian accounting software (1C)
Good morning (or some other time of day :-) ), dear Samba team members ! First: let me say "thank you" for your efforts to provide an alternative for the world! Second: Your product is especially welcome in Russia, where (except Moscow, the capital city) cost of legal copy of W2K or other MS products sounds like something unreal. But there are still some lawful citizens here, so Samba

Foxpro configuration
Hi, could someone please give me the correct entries for using Foxpro with a samba share. I tried everything I can think of in the smb.conf but I am always confronted with locking problems and multiuser issues: Upgraded to version 2.2.5 smb.conf (among other things of course) oplocks=off lock spin count = 3 lock spin time = 25 locking=yes Is there anything you can tell me. It is very urgent and

Seeking help with Samba shares & OPLOCKS & Quickbooks databases
I thought I had things figured out, but guess not. I have multi-user Quickbooks databases that functioned fine on a Novell server but are behaving badly on a Samba share. I have created a separate share for the Quickbook databases, users are running Win XP Pro, latest patches, and the Quickbooks application installed on the desktop. It is a multiuser version. Server is RedHat ES 3, Samba

protecting multiuser systems from bruteforce ssh attacks
Hello, What is the best way to protect multiuser systems from brute force attacks? I am setting up a relatively loose DenyHosts policy, but I like the idea of locking an account for a time if too many attempts are made, but to balance this with keeping the user from making a helpdesk call. What are some policies/techniques that have worked for this list with minimal hassle? Thanks! -Eugene

System-wide multiuser Wine installation
Hi. I was wondering if it is possible to do a Wine installation and installation of Windows applications where the applications are accessible to all users (or better yet, users in a certain group like "win32" or "wine")? I read in the most recent edition (March 18, 2005) of the Wine Weekly News that the global registry functionality had been removed. Is this necessary to have

Samba, Kerberos, Autofs: Shares get disconnected
Hallo again, I would like to ask if there exists any possibility to have a Samba mount point with multiuser and with a credentials file or something similar. After a couple weeks testing I just find that my shares get disconnected after one week, which is not acceptable: I have stored some large project files on the Samba share which is opened in some calculation software, and simulations take up

multiuser sshd as non-root
Dear knowledgeable people, I'm running sshd 6.6.1p1 on RHEL 7.1. I've got a security requirement to run it as an ordinary user, let's say test-x, instead of root. It works well if I try to log in as test-x user with public key auth. Unfortunately I need sshd to serve other users as well. In order to let sshd switch uids I've set the CAP_SETUID and CAP_SETGID capabilities on
