Winbind failure
Folks, I am setting up a server to use cups printing and samba to communicate with windows. Samba appeared to be working for a little while and then for some reason stopped working. Looking at the log files I see the following: [2007/07/10 12:49:16, 0] smbd/server.c:main(986) standard input is not a socket, assuming -D option [2007/07/10 12:49:16, 0]

Making nt_printer.tdb from tdbtool?
Hello All -- We are trying to consolidate our printer management from a series of NT print servers to a series of Samba ones, in a global network with ten offices and about 150 printers. All printing is PostScript and goes to HP and Canon printers over lpd through custom 'if' filters which do accounting. To help this we're trying to automate the printer and driver registration

Samba SSSD Integration
Was hoping for a helping hand. Trying to set up Samba on a domain member server. The member server was previously joined to the kerberized domain using realm join and a system keytab file exists in the /etc. Subsequently I added samba along with winbind not being entirely sure if the latter was needed. This is a Redhat 7.4 server. My smb.conf appears as follows. [global] password server = *

readline doesn't work even thou cled=TRUE
Can anyone offer suggestion about getting readline to work on Solaris? (v1.5.1) When I use the up arrow or ctrl-p to try to repeat the last command my session just beeps. It appears that the .Rhistory file that should appear in my startup directory is not being created. Thanks! The screen shot below shows cled=TRUE and no .Rhistory file created: $ /apps/R-1.5.1/bin/R R : Copyright 2002, The

Can't add printer drivers.
I am having quite some difficulty adding printer drivers to the print$ share of my Linux box. Here are the details: Debian Gnu/Linux with kernel 2.4.18 on a Sun Ultra 2. Samba version 2.2.3a. CUPS version 1.1.19. I am following along in the printer_driver2.txt file. Here are the relevant lines of my smb.conf: [global] username map = /etc/samba/user.map workgroup = CDE server string = %h

ssh-agent clustering
Hi.. I've looked through all the documentation and searched numerous websites and I can't find any viable current way to cluster ssh-agents. The functionality gap I see is to allow a situation where 2 ssh-agents are running on 2 different trusted machines. If one of those machines goes down passwordless logins should be allowed to continue through the backup ssh-agent. And when the

Quota - frustrated trying to configure ...
Hi, after fighting Dovecot almost every step of the way, I have finally gotten most of the functions configured on a customer box (used Cyrus on a previous install, but it was dropped from SLES 12 ...) The mail server setup uses LDAP for user authentication, has a central maildir tree (.../dovecot/maildir/<USER>/...) that is used for all users' mail, sieve is also running well. The

Looking for Newsletter Stuff
Hey I want to start the next Newsletter early so it can be a little more relaxed. The next release will be the 1. April. I really need someone to *interview*, just drop me a mail and I will send you a few questions. This can be anyone from the community that has some sort of CentOS install. And then I want to introduce a new section called DeskShot where users can show off their workplaces.

Hello, I'm having a problem installing a printer on a Window XP box (the problem also occurs in Win2000 SP2). The symptoms are: Add a printer -> network -> type in \\pcprint\picasso You get a message that there is no driver for this printer on the server and to either click OK to continue or Cancel. Go to printer driver selection (I've disabled spoolss as I don't understand

Dovecot user lookup from sendmail
Hi * after trying everything I could think of and find on the web, I'm totally stumped ... maybe someone give me some hints on what I'm doing wrong, or where to look ... I have an ancient customer box with sendmail & cyrus imap, with imap using an LDAP database of users (no locally configured users), all of which is working fine. This machine needs to be replaced by a new

Printer settings don't stick
Experienced programmer, Samba noob, CUPS noob; trying to use Ubuntu 6.06 Server as a print server for Windows XP clients on a home LAN. Worked through the Howto and got point-and-print to work for my Canon iP1200 (raw CUPS queue, and I used the Windows XP Add Printer Wizard to upload the driver to the print$ share). However, I can't persuade the printer driver to change the ink cartridge mode

The smbd ran away with the spoon...
It seems that my smbd process got fuxed somehow. It appears to have take up all the file handles, and there were over 130 smbd processes running on the system. I'm not entirely sure what happened. My first thought is that something bad happened between the server and the Windows client that's running Kaza (with a couple hundred mid-download files) and it just spiraled out of control,
