Reliable Samba just stopped mounting Windows machine
I have been mounting a Windows machine with no problems whatsoever for the year. Suddenly this afternoon it won't mount any more. No recent changes have been made on the machine. The only thing I've done recently is load and get Thunderbird working. Most things are done as user not root in KDE xterms. My Linux machine is Slackware Linux 10.0. There is an iptables firewall that

If it is the real domain,

error allocating core memory buffers with certain iconv args
rsync 3.0.0. MacOSX 10.5.1 Server/Intel. Trying to detect files with funny chars in their name, as I cannot find them with "find", I use the error (Illegal byte sequence) given by rsync when the target charset cannot reproduce them. While doing this I have met this error: /usr/local/bin/rsync -an --rsync-path=/usr/local/bin/rsync -- iconv=UTF8-MAC,437 /db /tmp/ rsync:

Losing Home Directories
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 We've recently moved from 2.2.2a on Suse using PDC authentication with local accounts created, to 2.2.8a on Debian with Winbind authentication. We are mapping shares on user's machines via a login script. So here's the problem several users are losing access to their home directory mappings. In other words, we are mapping their home

Samba -> XP. Slow log in/out
I have a server running slackware 9.1 and samba samba-2.2.8a and have WinXP Home (SP1) on a client machine. I have all of my users "My documents" pointing at a subdirectory of their home directories (ie. /home/USER/.documents). All of the users are able to use this with no problems EXCEPT me. When I log in to my user profile in Windows, the system tray takes about 5 minutes to load

Suddenly one printer stops to print
Hi all, I'm still a young man having trouble with his fresh new Samba 3 setup. I've got another small issue with Samba. Our Samba 3.0.2-2 (Debian Sarge) is acting as a PDC, but also hosts a few printers shares, with cups. Suddenly today only ONE of our printers stopped to work. From an XP Pro SP1 Client, we cannot print anymore. An attempt to print a test page fails, and here is what

Printing Problem With USB Epson C84
OK, I've solved all of my previous permissions issues, now I just need to get the output out. Setup: SuSE 9.0 Pro running Samba 2.2.8a. VMware installed with Windows 2000 Pro guest OS. Epson C84 attached via USB prints fine from Linux with CUPS and also via the commandline using smbclient > print. With data shares, I have no problems. Problem: Print jobs from Windows 2000 never get

pop3_migration plugin
Hello, I'm trying to migrate from an old courier-IMAP server on which I made a plugin to access the individual mailboxes with a master password Emails are used in both POP3 and IMAP. I followed this guide https://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Dsync In the log I find these messages, which are generated by the server independently without issuing the command "doveadm backup ..."

Re: Possible compromise ?
Yeah but if you are uncertain about your own box my VERY STRONG advise is that you reinstall. IF your host is indeed owned, then you are a lot further away then just reinstalling, god knows what issues can arrise when a cracker exploits the system to do bogus tasks.. Then i say: Too bad for your time, sorry but it's like that -- Kind regards, Remko Lodder Elvandar.org/DSINet.org

Fwd: I need help with an R function! Thx!
Hi! I am doing a course about the R software and I have a couple of doubts. In one of the tasks we were asigned, we have to perform a function that simulates a bus' trip with 25 stops. In each of those stops, between 0 and 6 people can go on board. And when the total of passengers reaches 44, no more people can go on board. stops <- 25 passengers <- 0 register <- numeric(25) bus

last-login Plugin
Hello, i'm using last_login plugin and store data into a MySql DB. I'm using version 2.3.10.1 and the config is at the end of the email. I would like to store also the remote IP and the session name. The config is working but other informations are written only the first time. Any update is ignored but last_login time. Debugging MySQL, I notice that dovecot is using this query: INSERT

Migrating PDC from NT to Samba
On a small Intranet (9 fixed client + some notebooks) we have decided to switch the PDC over a more reliable Linux server, actually running Samba 2.2.5 + OpenLDAP 2.0.25. To restructure the scenario, I've found very useful IDEALX's tools and pwdump. All the users and machines accounts were succesfully migrated into LDAP without any particular problem, and this was so far easy to do.
