The lone PC in Raleigh
Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Raleigh area Ruby users Meetup.
It was very interesting and very informative.
I did feel a bit out of place when we noticed that of the 11-12 people
there, I was the only one with a PC laptop. The rest were shiny macs.
Ah well, I need to replace this thing soon, and now that BootCamp is
out, I really have no more excuses. This way I can test

Experiences with Word 2000, SmartSuite 9
Using WINE 20010323 under a stock Mandrake 7.2 system.
Word 2000 seems to work but won't save files. If the file exists,
it just says, ``file exists'' [OK]. If you save anywhere fancy
like ``My Documents'' it says this is not a real filesystem location
[OK]. If you specify a drive and path (h:\filename.doc) it tells you
that this is an invalid filename, please check it [OK].

[LLVMdev] Python to VHDL using LLVM; was "Re: LLVMdev Digest, Vol 123, Issue 3"
The only VHDL to LLVM project that I know of is nvc. [0] I haven't
tried it personally and from a cursory look through the source it
seems like there is a LLVM backend and a "native" backend (not sure
what that means). If you're really crazy you might want to see if you
could massage GHDL [1] (VHDL GCC frontend) + DragonEgg [2] (LLVM
backend for GCC) to get you LLVM IR.

VFS Extended Auditing Module Debug Information
Folks,
Given recent discussion on this list I have just updated the master Samba-Docs

[LLVMdev] LLVM and VHDL simulation
Hi,
I am wondering if someone knows about a VHDL simulator (maybe still in early developpement) that use LLVM in its compilation process.
To summarize, VHDL is a hardware description language, which means that VHDL is like any other programming language except that the output of its synthesis is not a list of assembly instructions but a description of a circuit with logical gates. This

"they" synonym for "it"?
I''ve noticed that I phrase a lot of shared behaviours in plural, eg
describe "All payment_details views"
How about a "they" alias to "it" so you can write
describe "All payment_details views", :shared => true do
they "should have a card number field" do
# ...
end
end
WDYT?

One-Way SIP Audio with SVN Codebase
Please tell me the obvious mistake I'm making here. (And yes, I well
know about NAT and one-way audio problems in general.)
I want to try the new T.38 passthrough stuff, downloaded it, built it,
tested it with an SPA-2100 and can hear announcements fine but echo test
shows no audio outbound (i.e. SPA to Asterisk).
Registered the second SPA-2100 channel with an Asterisk 1.0.10 server in

How do fix a good solution against spam..
Heya folks
First of all, sorry if this isn't the correct list, but yet, I think spam is a kind of
network attack and should be treated as a security issue.. I run a working mail server
using Postfix, MySQL, Courier-IMAP, SpamAssassin and ClamAV (amavisd-new) ..
I've checked the configuration file for SpamAssassin, but yet I havn't find any good
solution for spam.. Sure, spam will

Winbindd startup kerberos fail
I'm trying to learn about the interactions between SAMBA and Win2k
DCs.??The eventual goal is to have a Win2k server with ADS working with
a FreeBSD SAMBA server.??I've?used?the?setup?from
http://oslabs.mikro-net.com/fbsd_samba.html and many other articles as
the basis for what I've done so far. Winbind seems to work and I can

[PATCH] change acquire/release_console_sem() to console_lock/unlock()
the -rt patches change the console_semaphore to console_mutex.
so a quite large chunk of the patches changes all
acquire/release_console_sem() to acquire/release_console_mutex()
this commit makes things use more neutral function names
which dont make implications about the underlying lock.
the only real change is the return value of console_trylock
which is inverted from
