We have an Apple OSX 10.3.4 Opendirectory (LDAP) Server with an SAMBA (3.0.2) PDC Server with roaming profiles for Windows XP (SP1 Prof) Clients on the Server. The Share for the PCs is only shared with SMB. When a PC log off, the profile will be copied to the server and brings the error message that the files prf*.tmp can?t be copied to the server. Help again for Samba 3.0
Hello again, althogh some of you already tried to help me, I still have the same problem: I'd like to test the new Samba 3.0 as a PDC for two Windows 2000 clients. My OS is FreeBSD 4.5 Can anyone help me with that ? I always get the errors : 'no user session key' and 'remote procedure call failed'. As I found out the error messages (on the clients) both change regularly.

Locked prf files within Roaming Profiles
Hello everybody, we have the following problem here: We've set up a complete samba domain (based on 3.0.20 now) which is running very fine including ldap backend. But we've still problems using roaming profiles (especially prf*tmp) files. We already tested the veto oplock directive with /prf*.tmp/ and even /*.tmp/ but these files remain always locked. Only "root" can delete

Help for Samba 3.0
Hello, can anyone tell me how to set up Samba 3.0 as a PDC ? It seems it is not the way it was in Samba 2.2.2... My (Samba) server system is FreeBSD 4.5 and the clients I want to join to the domain are both Windows 2000 SP2. I added the machine accounts manually again, but when I try to join a client it says that there is no user session key for the logon session error 1394L. Where can I find

Different PRF with --disable-legacy-protocol?
Hi everybody. I'm struggling with setting up an SPTPS connection between two of my machines. I attached the patch that I used to analyze this. Apparently different keys are derived depending on the crypto backend. Is this intentional? Linking to openssl results in char key[] = { 0xb2, 0x9d, 0x8d, 0x24, 0x91, 0x04, 0xaf, 0x25, 0x3f, 0x10, 0x34, 0x9d, 0xc7, 0x73, 0x8c, 0xe1, 0x24, 0x32,

Pfr tmp files, FreeBSD and Linux
I currently have 2 samba servers (3.0.25a) one running FreeBSD 6.2 and the other running CentOS 5. Both are setup the same and using the same smb.conf. The FreeBSD server works great, no problems. The linux server works great too except on logout. When a user goes to logout, windows errors with "Windows was unable to save all the data for the file prf*.tmp. The data has been lost. This error

EL5.1 client problems
Hi all, I attempted to add an EL5.1 client to our puppet server (EL5), and after signing the client cert, got the error "Certificates were not trusted: hostname not match with the server certificate" I found the mailing list discussion and the relevant page: http://www.reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/RubySSL-2007-006 As far as I can tell, my puppermaster''s cert CN matches

Canon multifunction printers / samba 3.0.2a / AIX 5.2ML2
Hello, I have problems setting up a canon multifunction ir7200. When I print the windows test page, I have something like "smiley" "arrow" "arow" "smiley" "arrow" name_of_the_samba_spool "smileys" driver.dll etc, etc, etc, on a single line. Did somebody used such a multifunction with Samba ? Below is a (long) description of what I did. I

plotting GAM
Dear colleagues, I would like to have GAM regression lines (package gam) thicker than the default setting does. Is there any way to change the width of regression line when plotting gam.objects from the package GAM with more than one predictor? Changing lwd parameter in plot function controls all line components, including points making them thicker as well, which is not what I would like to

Moving the Home dir to new server
I have a new Centos installation that has an empty /home dir and there are no users...just root. I want to move the home directory from another server to the new one. At this time the old /home directory has been tarred with "-prf". That will keep permissions which could be a problem. Is there a simple way to move the /home directory? And the non-system users in the password

mongrel cluster restart with capistrano fails but manually works
Hi all, I am out of my head here... I have a 3 node cluster with 10 mongrels running on each. When I deploy, I break all the mongrels every time. I have tried just about everything. I can restart my mongrels without a hitch manually, it''s only when I use cap deploy. Maybe I am missing something here... so if I can get some help it would be appreciated. The errors are the typical mongrel

Samba on Debian: Sarge -> Etch = broken guest shares
I upgraded a server from Debian Sarge to Etch the other day. Today I discovered a fairly major issue... All the shares I had set up for guest access have stopped working. The shares are meant to be writable by me and a few others, and read only for guest, but it's flat out refusing to authenticate anyone using guest (or unknown users which should be mapping to guest). SMB.conf is below

PBKDF2 password hashing as in ASP.NET Core
Hello, I'm setting up a new server and, again, seek for a decently secure (from a security specialist's POV) way to store and verify user passwords in a database. Additionally now, GDPR requires me to use a solid state-of-the-art solution. My OS is Ubuntu 20.04, Dovecot version 2.3.7, database backend with PostgreSQL 12. Obviously, storing the plaintext password is a terrible idea.
