zpool on a zvol inside zpool
Hi.
I'm moving some of my geli installation to a new machine. On an old
machine it was running UFS. I use ZFS on a new machine, but I don't have
an encrypted main pool (and I don't want to), so I'm kinda considering a
way where I will make a zpool on a zvol encrypted by geli. Would it be
completely insane (should I use UFS instead ?) or would it be still
valid ?
Thanks.
Eugene.

PROBE domain
Hi.
After an upgrade from 3.0.34 to 3.4.x or 3.5.x (I run samba on FreeBSD,
and, ufortunately, 3.0.x branch was just removed from FreeBSD ports) I
notices that I got a new domain PROBE, not referenced in any of my configs.
Previously it was only a BUILTIN domain, now there are two of them. As
the number of predefined domains continues to grow - I want to ask, if
there is any possibility to

samba4 and squid with NTLM auth
Hi.
Samba-4.0.7
FreeBSD 10.0-CURRENT
Besides serving files I'm using Samba to authenticate users in the
Windows AD with squid.
After having issues with samba 3.6.16 I decided to see if samba4 will
fit me more. I was surprised, but I found that Samba 4 is fully
functional in my environment and is nearly production-ready.
After that I tried to setup squid to use samba for NTLM authentication.

Burn Out
I think that the time has come for me to back off a bit from my
involvement with Shorewall. I just don''t have enough cycles (or energy) to
keep up the pace of the last several months. As a consequence, I''m going
to do the following:
1. I''m going to stop personally supporting the entry level tools (samples
and quick start guide).
These tools are a source of constant

crash when trying to upgrade from 2.0.x to 2.3.x
Hello,
I'm trying to migrate dovecot mail database from 2.0.9 on Linux to
2.3.20 on FreeBSD. I've rsync'd the entire database, grabbed all the
configs, changed the paths and permission, but when trying to access the
mail from Thunderbird I have reproducible crash in the logs:

Re: Sonar ??

Yes, this is the problem. It only works up to the
Wine version I mentioned in the notes. The newest
versions won't let it work.

That's a good question. Lately, a lot of stuff in
Wine has been losing compatibility; I don't know if
that's because

plot (log scale on y-axis)
I am planning to plot my data on log scale (y-axis). There is a
parameter in plot function, which is
plot( ..., log="y", ...)
While, the problem is that it is with base of e. Is there a way to let
me change it to 10 instead of e?
Thanks

samba 3.5.6, winbindd and getent/id
Hi.
I'm using samba to authenticate squid users in Windows AD, and to
provide 'em some statistics on the Internet usage. As this requires the
existence of windows users in Unix environment, I use nsswitch.conf and
nss_winbind.so to map users in Unix environment via samba as domain
member (security = ads) and its winbindd daemon.
As of samba 3.5.6 I'm expiriencing some major

'which' and installing Linux software on -STABLE
Has anyone else had frustrating problems with the use of 'which' in
Linux mode ? I have some SUN software which I am trying to install.
I am running Linux bash to run the install script - running 'uname'
returns 'Linux'
But the SUn code does 'which uname' to get the path to 'uname' before
running it. the ;which' command is a bash builtin, and this

Failed to find cifs/foo.bar in keytab MEMORY:cifs_srv_keytab (arcfour-hmac-md5)]
Hi.
I'm using Samba 4.3.11 as a domain member on FreeBSD 10.x.
Some of my users (around 1%) are experiencing problems from time to
time, browsing this server's shares in Windows Explorer - it starts to
ask for the password. It doesn't ask the password while accesssing it
via it's IP address, and I see in its logs the following (when accessing
it via its name):

winbind group membership
Hi.
FreeBSD 8.2
Samba 3.5.11 from ports
I have an issue with group membership. id shows only small part of the
groups a user is member of. I'm aware about UNIX max group issue, but
this isn't related to it - for example for a user which is member of the
6 griups id shows only 3. Although wbinfo -r shows correct number of
groups and wbinfo -G is able to successfully translate UNIX

Samba 4.5.0 dbcheck problems
Hi all,
I've recently upgraded all our DC's (we have 9 spread over various global
Sites) to 4.5.0.
I run a dbcheck on our FSMO-owner DC once per day from a cron job and this
threw up a ton of errors on the first pass after the upgrade. After running
it several times with the --fix flag I've got the errors down to 603 but
these last errors are refusing to be removed.
Here is an

correct is not much different, but you need a "correct" config.
now your config is simpley wrong. ( sorry )
This proves it. one question..
idmap config * : backend = rid
idmap config * : range = 100000-999999
can you write you "rid" to the samba AD.. No.
# - must use an read-write-enabled back end, such as tdb.
you need also :

Using napredict in prcomp
Hello all,
I wish to compute site scores using PCA (prcomp) on a matrix with
missing values, for example:
Drain Slope OrgL
a 4 1 NA
b 2.5 39 6
c 6 8 45
d 3 9 12
e 3 16 4
...
Where a,b... are sites.
The command

TRUE, na.action=na.exclude)
works great, and from

A while back samba was installed on a machine with IP address 10.1.0.19,
default router 10.1.0.1. The IP address was recently changed to 10.2.0.57,
default router 10.2.0.1. The share used to be available across our network
as specified by hosts allow. However, since the IP Address change ONLY 10.2
machines can see the share. It is no longer available to the whole network.

translation from windows to linux
Hi all,
I started recently to use R with linux(ubuntu) but I often get code written under windows or mac. I have two questions. When I encounter a function which is not in R linux what is the best way to find the right linux function for it? So next time I can help myself. I browsed the web for a long time and could not find anything to the the function
zip.unpack.
Thats actually my second
