[ANNOUNCE] xf86-video-intel 2.13.902
It's getting close to party time, and so for all of those lucky enough to
be receiving Sandy Bridge stocking fillers this Christmas, Intel would
like to present you with a working driver... But first you have to help us
test it! So without further ado, here is the first release candidate for
2010Q4.

[PATCH v5 3/8] qspinlock, x86: Add x86 specific optimization for 2 contending tasks
Updated version, this includes numbers for my SNB desktop and Waiman's
variant.
Curiously Waiman's version seems consistently slower on 2 cross node
CPUs. Whereas my version seems to have a problem on SNB with 2 CPUs.
There's something weird with the ticket lock numbers; when I compile
the code with:
gcc (Debian 4.7.2-5) 4.7.2
I get the first set; when I compile with:

Order of methods for optimx
Dear R-er,
For a non-linear optimisation, I used optim() with BFGS method but it
stopped regularly before to reach a true mimimum. It was not a problem
with limit of iterations, just a local minimum. I was able sometimes to
reach better minimum using several rounds of optim().
Then I moved to optimx() to do the different optim rounds automatically
using "Nelder-Mead" and

Samba PDC + OpenLDAP (Debian Lenny)

working for is changing all servers from MS to Debian, but all the
clients is still a mixed environment for now.
We have MAC, *NIX, and Windows clients, so its imported that everything
keeps running in the same or almost the same way as before the change but.

Dropboxes issues
Hi Folks,
- I need to implement a share with drop-box features, My
necessities is: Have a share for each person, the owner may be able to do
what he wants, but the others can only put files on it. For example: here I
got 3 persons from my workgroup (Maria - Carlos - Jose), I'd created the
folders and set it with "chown owner.users" and "chmod 3770 folder

[PATCH] nv50,nvc0: fix 3d blits with mipmap levels
Make sure to normalize the z coordinates as well as the x/y ones when
there are mipmaps present. Fixes 3d mipmap generation, which now uses
the blit path.

striping with ZFS and SAN(AMS500 HDS)
I have Storage-SAN of HDS(AMS500), and I want to do striping on luns from the storage. I don''t want any raid-5(because I have one on the disks in the HDS storage).
I only want to do strip on 2 luns(25GB each) that cames from different controllers and deffrent fiber channel port(dual HBA).
I test the preformance by writing 512MB in to the zfs, with 2 luns striped(each lun from diffrent

Such an addon to samba would make me weep tears of joy. The trashcan is a
"security blanket" feature that Windows/MacOS/OS2/BeOS users now take for
granted. Convincing them that this is now impossible because we've

OT: headless fanless silent 2 HDs micro server/pc...
Hey,
A bit out of topic but I am looking for a micro server/pc if anyone knows a descent one...
I found many nice NAS but I would like to have full access to the OS (install CentOS, etc).
Dream one would be
- Very quiet (fanless) since it will sit in my bedroom.
- Headless
- Small.
- 2/3 HDs (2.5" are ok) for RAID1 (hardware RAID would be nice, and with BBC even more).- 1 or 2 GB NICs

Hi All,
I'm trying to migrate from an NT4 domain to samba-3...
sorry this is so long...
when I run the "net rpc vampire" I get errors for users and machines
in uppercase or contain uppercase chars.
I'm in a test env before I go live!
I'm on a gentoo distro w/ shadow.
useradd FOO errors, this might be the culprit...
I set up some dummy accts and made them members of

This series hasn't seen any reviews or acks unfortunately.
Any takers?
Merging this would allow fdo #61115 to be closed
(currently assigned to intel-gfx).
FWIW this series has in the meantime been tested by more folks:

space allocation vs. thin provisioning
Short question:
I''m curious as to how ZFS manages space (free and used) and how
its usage interacts with thin provisioning provided by HDS
arrays. Is there any effort to minimize the number of provisioned
disk blocks that get writes so as to not negate any space
benefits that thin provisioning may give?
Background & more detailed questions:
In Jeff Bonwick''s blog[1], he

Really bad KVM disk performance
Hi Gang,
I recently rented a server at a datacenter with Centos 5.7 X64, Q9550
Processor, 8GB Ram, and dual 250GB SATA HDs (with 16mb cache). They had
loaded it with KVM, and installed a 30-day trial of Virtualizor as the
front-end for KVM.
I was so impressed with how fasts the guests ran that I want to build a few of
these machines for myself. I just installed one: same Q9550 processor, 4GB
