swat: bug located
Great job on SWAT. I'm a hard-core UNIX guy, and I like my vi and whatnot. But it's nice to see a functional web interface. It could use some more work--but great job so far! Anyway, I found a core-dump-causing-bug. I was curious as to whether or not swat limited addition of passwords to the smbpasswd file by the users that exist in the system's /etc/passwd file. I was relativly

NT PDC to Samba PDC migratio
I thought that it was quite impossible to do that due to the Domain SID as well as the SAM list that currently Samba is unable to retrieve. (Not that it would have helped me any, since our old NT 4.0 PDC took a major Hardware failure.) How would one duplicate the SID, is that possible with 'smbpasswd -S' from the new Samba DC? rpcclient enumdrivers 3 times out on NT drivers
This is puzzling me (and hampering some work, slightly): NT4SP6 + full updates server, with some printers attached. "rpcclient -U admin%pass enumdrivers 2" server gives me a list of stuff like this: [Windows 4.0] Printer Driver Info 2: Version: [0] Driver Name: [HP LaserJet 5Si PCL 5e] Architecture: [Windows 4.0] Driver Path:

Samba PDC+LDAP on FreeBSD
Hello, I am trying to use Samba (2.2.7a)+ LDAP (2.0.25) as PDC on FreeBSD 4.7. But it turned out that LDAP is not easy-going!!! Without LDAP, things seems fine. I can join the Win2000 machine accounts and the shares are all right. However, when configurating samba with ldap support, then smbpasswd couldn't work anymore. I can only use # smbpasswd -w secretpassword to add the

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I had a problem with smbpasswd -m The man pages says: -m This option tells smbpasswd that the account being changed is a MACHINE account. NT username/password export
Sorry for all the newbie questions... I could have sworn I saw something about a utility that exports the SAM database from NT into Linux.. seems like it is the lego syndrome, saw it while doing WINBIND searches, can't find it elsewise...anyway...could someone point me in the right direction? I want to export my users from NT to linux with passwords....if that is impossible, I also have all

Cannot log in to domain
Hi folks, Just yesterday, my Samba installation on OpenSlug suddenly stopped working, out of the blue. Now, users on my WinXP SP2 systems cannot under any circumstances log in to the domain. Local Windows users however can map shares with no problem. When a domain user attempts to log on to a domain member PC (joining the domain works fine, by the way), they are denied with the generic Windows

Problems setting up a Samba BDC
Hello, I am trying to setup a SLES9 system as a Samba BDC. The PDC is NT4. I am using an LDAP backend and have installed the smbldap tools. I am following the directions found in the HOWTO and am running into trouble, maybe someone can shed some light on things for me and tell me what I'm doing wrong. I will print the commands I'm using to try and create the samba BDC and we'll go

high cpu load with 3.0.20b (not using ldap)
Hi, I've a problem, with a cpu load (>66% while running a separate virusscanner with another 30%) of one of my smbd processes. It only happens occasionally (approx. 2 times in the last 4 weeks). The backtrace is attached. It seems to me, that smbd is looking for colorlaser5quota. This printer isn't attached anymore to the server and neither cups nor samba configuration files include a
