C5 : Deleting un-deletable files ?
During a routine trawl through the ext3 files, I found some astronomical file sizes, billions and billions of GB.
They also has strange user and group names.
I can not delete these "weird files" (the term used by the operating system utilities).
Here are a few examples. The original files were created on Windoze 98 version 2 circa 2001.

FSCK?
An EXT3 filesystem technically isn't supposed to require an fsck,
correct? Well, as per my last email re: EXT3 Crash?! I ran an fsck on a
couple of my LVMs. It said they were clean, but then I decided to be
100% sure and force an fsck. Error after Error after Error after Error.
I wound up losing almost half the data on my LVM due to all the errors.
What's the real deal? Am I doing

ext3 bug?
Hi,
I have a severe filesystem crash on a machine with a single ext3 filesystem.
It is the second time that this happens to me (on two different machines that
are identical in hardware setup and mostly in software - I cloned them when
I started to work).
It looks like the journal (or something else, i am not an expert here) has
gone wild and overwritten loads of inodes. I have a single filesys

Adobe CS3 Bridge and Wine?
Hi guys...
I have a dual boot machine with WinXP and Ubuntu 8.03
On Windows I have the CS3 suite working.
I need to install it on linux with wine.
Is there any success story about Bridge running on Wine?
Could it work if i only copy the program files and shared libraries without using the long-uncommon CS3 installer on Wine?

New User General Fail
I've just converted to Linux, so I'm not really up to speed on anything. Just putting that out there. I've tried to install a couple different Windows games in Wine with the same effect. Wine runs the installer just fine and adds the program to its 'Programs' list in the Application toolbar (Ubuntu Hardy, btw). When I try to run anything off this list, I get a little Wine

Push /home/* directories recursively to clients
Hi I am trying to push populate /home & subdirectories from the puppet
server to all the Linux clients.
I managed this with cfengine using rsync. But I am not sure how do I
achieve this in puppet, do we have any inbuilt function for this.
Also, is there a function for userdel like for useradd (user)
groupadd(group).
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Problems running Samba on RHEL4U2
dear all,
i'm running samba (3.0.10-1.4E.2, original update packet from RHEL 4) on
RHEL 4 U2 and as member of a active-directory (smb.conf: security = DOMAIN).
it works fine for some days but after that the number of running smbd's
increases until the machine reaches some process-limits....
strace of one of the hanging smbd's shows:
