samba_3_0+ldapsam: Bug?
Hi, after upgrading samba 3.0 from ~ Jan. 03 cvs -> today's cvs, samba crashes while contacting an LDAP server. If I try: $ smbclient -L localhost -Udariush%pass smbd logs the following: [2003/04/04 18:20:39, 2] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_search_one_user(648) ldapsam_search_one_user: searching for:[(&(uid=dariush)(objectclass=sambaAccount))] [2003/04/04 18:20:39, 10]

Adding a machine; I think I am onto something
Parameters are: Samba 2.2.7a PDC setup with LDAP includeing posix authentication for Linux. OK, the tutorial I've based my setup on is the Mandrake tutorial found at http://www.mandrakesecure.net/en/docs/ldap-auth.php Works great for autenticateing Linux from LDAP but it is really sparse on the Samba side of things. Esepcially when it comes to adding machine trust accounts. So anyway I

ACL bug
Hello, I'm using samba 3.0.2(acl) and kernel 2.4.24+acl, libacl-2.2.23. Following problem: When I create a file in an directory with extended ACLs, samba applies the "create mask" in a wrong way (IMHO). The normal behaviour of tools like chmod is that the second (middle) permission field is mapped to the "mask" ACE if the file has an extended ACL, so that the change

Undeleting files in ext3 (Newbie-question)
Recently I've encountered a problem, and now I would preciate any help about being able to undelete files. My /var filestructured is mounted at /dev/hdc1 Part of my /etc/mtab looks like this: /dev/hdc1 /var ext3 rw 0 0 I'm using the e2fsprogs-1.23-2 package currently installed with Redhat 7.2 So, could anyone give me a hint of how things could be done to find deleted inodes? samba domain member can't validate users against 3.0 DC
Hello, I've a samba 3.0 (today's cvs) server running as a PDC. The Win2K/NT Clients can login without any visible problems, but samba 2.2.7a domain member can't validate users in security=domain mode. I've followed the howto in the docs and joyning the domain with 'smbpasswd -j BRGS -r ALDEBARAN -Uroot%pw' works just fine, the samba 3.0 DC even creates the machine$

user level access control with win9x and samba 2.2/3.0
Hello, I've set up a samba 3.0 (cvs 2002-12-27) domain with LDAP backend and about 800 users. I have some win95/98 clients and want to use user level access control. But if I try to fetch the list of users in the add-share dialog, windows says "You can not view the user list at this time. Please try again later." I've just checked this with samba 2.2.7a too and it didn't

Samba / OpenLDAP and groups
Hi- I'm using Samba with OpenLDAP and was wondering how to add a user to multiple groups, for instance 'Domain Users' and 'Marketing'. Is this stored in the gid field? Do I just add more than one gid filed for each entry? Thanks! -Greg _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE*

Samb and Ldap groups
Hi, After some carefully editing of pdb_ldap.c I have managed to get a list of groups from the LDAP directory if you are root or anyother user. :-) The problem now is if you run the command (from win2k) net group it /domain (where 'it' is the group name) or try to open a group in user manager you do not get any listing of uers in that group. The error in windows is "Group name

Setting SeServiceLogonRight ?
Hi everybody ! I want to authenticate a Exchange 5.5 Server against Samba 2.2.8. But the Exchange Server says after using a Samba account: Cant start due to a logon failure: "The User has not been granted the request logon type at this computer" I tracked down the problem and i think that the "SeServiceLogonRight" Privilege is not set by the Samba PDC thus not allowing an

some permissions issues
I?m facing some troubles with file / directory permissions... I log on the domain as admin user(root), and theres a pub share, on witch everyone needs to have permission to create / modify files, but when I change or create a file, only root can change the file, no one else. And then i need to go to server to chgrp users * -R and chown nobody * -R to allow others users to change the file.

samba_3_0+ldapsam_nua: creating machine trust accounts fails
Hi, with current SAMBA_3_0 I'm unable to create new Machine Trust Accounts with ldapsam_nua. A rough test indicates that ldapsam works. If I put 'rid' in samba.schema from MUST into MAY, samba creates an ldap entry, but with empty 'rid' and 'primaryGroupID' attributes. ciao Dariush # smbpasswd -D5 -a -m test2$ Netbios name list:-

Boot Log Problems
Hi, I have just updated from CentOS 4 to 5 and I am seeing a problem with udev during booting, but I am unable to track it down as it looks like the boot.log is not working. The file is there but empty and the previous log only lists events up to the point at which I upgraded. syslog.conf looks ok to me in so much as there is an entry pointing to /var/log/boot.log. Any suggestions as to what I

3.0.2a: Win98 can't connect but w2k is fine
After an upgrade of debian/stable-> testing, samba got upgraded from 2.x to 3.0.2a. And now my Win98 clients can't connect. To make matters worse nothing is showing in the logs when they try to connect. W2k connects fine and there is logging that they connect and disconnect from shares. I double checked encrypted/plaintext passwords on the win98 box, but neither mode helps. Any help

"Compression failed" message

Yes, this was added to make sure that during encoding, the flac output file was smaller than the input file. It may be worth replacing the "Please contact developers" with a link to a web page with an explanation.
