I’m not sure if it will help you but we’re seeing something similar that I call the “10 hours problem” here. On any Samba - after 4.7.6 (we’re currently trying out 4.9.4 but still no go) - at 10 hours after it (smbd & winbindd) was restarted it new connections often (but not 100% all the time, but we think it is related to the number of connections, or active connections, or how many are

Windows Offline Folders
Am running Samba 2.2.7 on Red Hat 8.0 with Windows 2K clients patched to SP4
Creating off line folders works fine but if any file is modified off line
and then sync'd back when the laptop is reconnected to the network it comes
back with an unable to connect - access denied message. But I can quite
happily copy the files over manually.
I have attached the log file (log level = 3) for the

Markov transition matrices , missing transitions for certain years
Hi all,
I am working for nest box occupancy data for birds and would like to
construct a Markov transition matrix, to derive transition probabilities for
ALL years of the study (not separate sets of transition probabilities for
each time step). The actual dataset I'm working with is 125 boxes over 14
years that can be occupied by 7 different species, though I have provided a

# chkconfig: kill at run level 3
In the control script of my daemon in /etc/init.d?, I have
# chkconfig: 35 97 3
The result of this is that I have links:
/etc/rc.d/rc1.d/K03...
/etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S97...
/etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S97...
As mentioned in a previous thread, my complex daemon throws
an exception when I shutdown. Perhaps things might be better
if I had:
/etc/rc.d/rc3.d/K03...
Might this be a good idea? If so,

of all the windows machines and the one Linux Box I've set up with Samba.
Yet when I try "net view \\LINUXBOX" I get the no-soup-for-you message:

"Access is denied."
I don't remember setting up any password files for this installation of
Samba, and there was no previous installations. Either I missed it in the

All,
using Samba as an AD (2k12) domain member in Stretch
(2:4.5.12+dfsg-2+deb9u4) with tdb as default and rid as domain backend.
No overlapping. Everything works fine. Setup was done as in the wiki
[1].
If you're connecting from a Windows 10 client and do not add
dedicated keytab file = /etc/krb5.keytab
kerberos method = secrets and keytab
winbind refresh tickets = Yes

Reading data in lisp format
Hi,
I am trying to read the "credit.lisp" file of the Japanese credit database in UCI repository, but it is in lisp format which I do not know how to read. I have not found how to do that in the foreign library

CentOS 4.5: Automounted USB disks eventually stop appearing on desktop
This is just a minor annoyance, but I wondered if anyone has any insights.
When I first boot the system and log in to Gnome, and then plug in
e.g. a USB stick or compact flash card, I get an icon for it on the
desktop. I can right-click on this icon to "eject" the filesystem,
etc.
Eventually, though, for no obvious reason, this stops working and I no
longer get an icon when I insert a

localboot in pxelinux recurses back into pxelinux then eventually crashes
Hi all,
My server is IBM x3850 X5 and use Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 v5.2.4 stack.
When I choose localboot to boot from the harddisk, the system willnot
boot up then still trying to boot from PXE. Several times later the
PXE boot procedure is crashed with words as I attached.
Does anyone have any good idea?
Thanks very much.

Asterisk eventually fails when connection dies
I have a single server running asterisk 1.6.0.8 with a few sip voip providers
and a tdm card for redundancy. It has a caching name server and the sip providers
are hard coded in the hosts file.
When the internet connection dies, it fails over to the dahdi channel as it
should, but slowly the sip phones loose registration and the incoming dahdi
channel can still answer the incoming call, but it

samba4 eventually stops working
I'm running samba4 from git (latest as of sep 1) on ubuntu 10.4. It's
operating as a PDC, as well as hosting a shared drive.
The last couple days I've noticed that my shared drives will appear as
disconnected, and indeed trying to connect to the server times out. If
I look on the server, there are many (50ish) samba processes all sitting
there sleeping. If I use the init script to

Apply approx() to an array and eventually a list of arrays
Hello all,
I'm struggling to grasp how I might use lapply() instead of looping to
run approx() on a list consisting of multiple arrays - each of equal
dimension.
But simpler than that, I haven't been able to successfully apply
approx() to an array, unless I loop through the third dimension and
extract the matrix. See example code below...
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
Thanks
