Authenticate Linux Session with NT Domain Acct.
Despite configuring winbind and my /etc/pam.d/<files>, I am still unable
to actually log into a Linux session (ie, at the gdm login screen or
text login prompt) using my NT domain account. Here is my
/etc/pam.d/login file:
auth required /lib/security/pam_securetty.so
auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_winbind.so
auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_unix.so

Winbind trouble. Wbinfo see's users, "getent passwd" doesn't
I'm trying to set up a new fileshare, to replace an aging NT4 machine we've
been using for far too long.
I'd like to run Linux (RedHat 7.3) on the machine.
Basically, I'm trying to create a fileshare "files" that people can
transparently log in to from NT4 and Windows 2000 workstations. My boss has
approved the use of Linux for the server, but only if I can make it

Integrating a Linux desktop into a Windows Domain environment
Can someone give me some pointers to documentation, concepts on how to
integrate Linux desktop into a Windows domain environment to access shared
drives / printers. I wonder what other peoples experiences were as well.
If possible I want to setup Linux/Samba in such to replicate what an
Windows workstation does, authenticate with a domain controller then be
able to seamlessly access shares.

How to authenticate to CVS via Winbind?
Hi!
As a Samba newbie I have a big problem getting my Win2000 Server PDC users
to authenticate to CVS/SSH on my samba 2.2.3a-12.3 debian woody machine. The
linux server is member of the Windows Domain, and users can login via the
network neighbourhood and their domain passwords (style: DOMAIN\user).
wbinfo -u gives me all the known Domain users, so I think winbind is working
correctly...

I see my samba server but.............
Here I go guys!
I've already changed the configuration of my sbm.conf, also I made my samba
server to be configured as a windows domain, yes! it is found in my windows
domain now but as doing double click on this machine (samba) it asks me for
a user and passsword, it does not let me get into it, I have created the
same samba users as windows, but without any results.
I appreciate your help :

with any Windows XP Client the system ask to me the Username/password

OpenSSH and pam_radius_auth.so
Hi,
I have recently upgraded from OpenSSH-3.5 to OpenSSH-3.8 on my Red Hat 6.2 servers. I use radius (pam_radius_auth) for ssh authentication. Since the upgrade ssh1 (putty 0.52) logins are failing. I've come to the conclusion that pam is skipping the radius section of the config file and is falling back to standard unix authentication.
Is there any way of making ssh1 work with radius on

samba + ldap + pam_mkhomedir ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi list,
I'm on the way to implement samba with ldap on five servers (each owns
a different nt-domain) and a master server which maintains the central
user database which gets replicated to all the other servers. Now I
have just one more problem, namely homedirs. I want every user to have
a homedir to store for example his profile. This has to

Winbind and Samba
Hi all, I was wondering if someone could lend a little assistance.
I recently setup SAMBA/Winbind to allow users to login to a Redhat 8 box
using their Windows NT Domain credentials. All is working well in that
regard.
The issue I am having is getting regular UNIX based users to be able to
login. The following is my PAM configuration. For example, if I try to
login as root, it does not work.

Last call.
Outside the pre-auth patch by Markus to fix Cygwin and a few other
platforms.
SEND ME (privately) ANY required patch against the lastest snapshot.
I'm doing the final commits this evening.
Patches that have been temporary rejected for this release.
- Owl's full patch for SysV Shm if mmap fails
- mmap() on /dev/zero
- mmap() on sparse file

Annoying winbind problem solved
I have been on the web for hours reading email postings about WINDBIND.
Here is the scenario. Samba 2.27 on Redhat 8, installed via the redhat
RPMs. the first interesting note was that there is no samba-winbind rpm.
It is a part of the samba-common.rpm in redhat. I have been using Samba
as a file server for quite some time. And 100% of my issues with it stem
from permission problems. So I heard

CVS over SSH
Hi there
I'm running a samba cvs server in a windows domain with a W2K PDC. I want to authenticate windows users through ssh. I'm able to login with a windows user to the server on the server himself but when I want to login via a windows client It doesn't work. The connection is refused. Could it be something mis configured in my ssh pam module.
This is my pam ssh module

Unofficial Samba+ACL howto
Hi all,
As promised, I have started a howto document on setting up Samba with NT ACL
support, based on experiences in my workplace, as documentation for this
seems to be on the short side at the moment.
It is available at the following address:
http://www.bluelightning.org/linux/samba_acl_howto
I have yet to convert it to proper DocBook format, and it needs more material

getent does not get remote users
I have a samba 3.0.2a -server running Linux, which I try to set up to
authenticate users from a NT4 PDC using winbindd. Now, everything works
to the point, where I try to list users with "getent passwd". Getent
only gets the local unix-users and has no clue about the NT4 -users.
Also, home directories for the NT4 -users are not created and no logs
whatsoever are left behind by the

WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Hi,
Yes it's possible to authenticate users from win 2000 server with
winbind. For me
the PAM configuration was the hardest part. I used mandrake 9 and it has
a realy
good pre config. And if you want to modify the folder/file permissions
from NT/W2k
PDC then don't use ReiserFS as the filesystem. Use either EXT3 or XFS.
Mayby the
ReiserFS 4 will have the ACL support.
