Another newbie question: curve of normal distribution
I would like to get a curve of normal distrubtion over the
histogram. Something like the following (which obviously doesn't
work; see attached example).
maluj <- function() {
vrhy=read.csv("pennies.csv",head=TRUE)
hf=table(vrhy$HEADS)
postscript("heads.eps",onefile=FALSE,width=4.134,height=3.445,pointsize=12)

SIGHUP/av[0] restart failure
Hello,
OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 running under AIX 4.3.3ML06. When I send a HUP
signal to the parent sshd, that parent process dies, it's children
get "adopted" by init, and the following message is put in the error
log ...

SIGHUP fails to restart (3.6.1p2 -> 3.7p1)
I have the sshd daemon located at /sbin/ssh_22 in this scenario (because I have
more than one daemon with separate executable images). After upgrading from
3.6.1p2 to 3.7p1, with the /sbin/ssh_22 copy replaced by mv (not by writing
over the existing image), I do SIGHUP and get this message logged:
Sep 16 15:07:36 vega sshd_22[22552]: Received SIGHUP; restarting.

Take down and restart.
What is the best way to bring down and restart ices with a new
playlist, or do I need to stop ices at all?

printer list from cups without restart?
Hi,
while using cups as a print system and sharing all the printers with
samba to windows clients, is it possible to 'view' a newly created
printer in the browse list without restarting smbd ? (samba 2.2.7)

Samba restart
hi all,
I noticed that when I upgraded from Samba 2.0.7 (redhat 7.0) to samba 2.2.1a
I lost this nice little script that came with redhat to start and stop the
samba server.
I would type in /usr/sbin/samba start and get a response like...
/usr/sbin/smbd start (OK)
/usr/sbin/nmbd start (OK)
I liked that...does any one have a substitute that I could use for 2.2.1a?
Thanks

Stumped at "Network Neighbourhood", Samba server is visible, but it's path can't be found ...
Hi all,
I can see the RH7.3 linux box I've configured with the latest
Redhat RPM samba package in the Windows 2000 network
neighbourhood, but when I double click the W2000 computer
icon I get the message
"\\Linuxbox is not accessible,
The network path was not found."
The network is a small switched lan, sadly with only one unix
box (RH7.3) and a mixture of Windows2000 and 98

cpanel and ices
Why does cpanel want to remove ices files? How can I prevent this from
occurring?
What I get is /libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libshout.so.3" not
found, required by "ices" after cpanel does it nightly updates.
Also if I do a SIGHUP to ices to update a playlist, do I just need to
issue the command ices SIGHUP? What would be the correct format.
Again, I apologize for

prototype of simple NX client with auto-resuming ssh session
Dear All:

Summary, especially for openssh list (to test/reproduce):
THANK YOU for all your help.
Please extract into /home/username/nx on both host and client. cp ssh to a file named mxssh in that directory. Run
(with an _n_ below)
Start server on the remote host by typing ./server &
Now do:
./nxssh hostname
If you killall client on the remote end, it reconnects "seamlessly"

So, AFAIK, they should be identical. But I put some printfs and sleeps
around and it wasn't a synchronization issue. My man page says that
SIGUSR1 should terminate if there isn't a handler for

I can. I've removed every other compilation flags from clang and even
used GCC, with the exact same behaviour.

dovecot/config processes one more time - which are safe to kill?
Hello.
The problem with dovecot/config processes never ending and spawning new
one on each reload
(https://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2016-November/106058.html) is
becoming a problem here:
# ps aux|grep dovecot/config|wc -l
206
That's a lot of wasted memory - dovecot/config processes ate over 30GB
of ram on 64GB box.
Before killing dovecot/config processes:
# free -m

sshd_config question
Hi.? I have configured sshd in OpenBSD to require publickey authentication.
I've tried configuring FreeBSD to do the same, but I can still login via keyboard authentication.
Here are the options I have in my sshd_config:
PasswordAuthentication no
ChallengeResponseAuthentication no
UsePAM no
After setting those options I kill -HUP the sshd? process.
Is there something simple I am missing?
