Does anyone use slackware with samba? And if so, are they able to produce 'log.nmbd' files? I can't. But I can do this just fine with RH8.0. By the way - my version of Slackware is 8.1 -- T.L.Gervais Coldbrook, NS Canada.

I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on why my nmbd daemon stops running. I checked the logs and there is nothing showing in there as to why this daemon stops. SMBD is running there just fine, but not NMBD ?? Any thoguhts? --- Ted Gervais, Coldbrook, Nova Scotia, Canada

I got a problem. Samba is in place and working on my linux machine but when I try and use Windows to map a drive it asks for a password and doesn't know the one I enter. With the 2.6 kernels we have lost the ability to use ptyxx and ttyxx for the installation of various ports. I am thinking of attaching a modem etc to an axip or other similar port and for that I always used ptyxx/ttyxx to do this.
