Guitar Pro in Wine?
My uncle recently bought a new computer and he wants me to help him install Guitar Pro.
The thing is, he doesn't have Windows, and I'm thinking of installing Ubuntu with wine on the comp.
Quiz time!
Can you use wine, with GP, and if you can, deos it perform poorly in any ways?

HOw to tell ices that input files are mp3 or ogg ( or deos it recognize

Application Blocking
On my windows machine I use a software fire will called ZoneAlarm. One
feature I like Is the ability to block applications from using the net. I''ve
looked with Shorewall and wonder if it does, or was ever meant to. Not a
complaint, a curiosity.

How to provide a result from D(f(x), "x") to a curve(f'(x)) ???
Hi all,
I want to provide the result from D() to curve(), because I want to plot the k-th derivative of some functions. Actually, I copy from console the result given by D() and paste inside curve(). With a lot of functions and high degree differentiation this process is tedious. Can I provide directly??
# what I actually have done (very simple function)
D(expression(x^3), "x") # copy

RODBC & POSIX & Daylight Saving blues
Dear All,
The recent improvement in RODBC to recognize datetimes in tables has
exposed my ongoing confusion.
All my data are obtained from a satellite system (Argos) which tags events
in the GMT time zone. Daylight saving is ignored. To my way of thinking
this means that
1. twelve-o-clock means halfway through the day regardless of season, and
2. the difftime of any two dates where

I have a view where I render a partial over a collection. Each instance

Inside the partial, there is a select tag for "year". I''m trying to
change some of the contents of the partial when user changes the year.
I''m using this in the view:

read_data: read failure for 4
Thse kinds of error messages show up all the time in my logs...is this
bad? I've had no complaints about lost data or anything.
I'm running samba 2.2.4 on FreeBSD 4.6 (previously 4.5), on an IDE RAID.
I upgraded our file server from an older linux box about 4 weeks ago, and
have been getting this error in the smbd logs ever since (ie, the entire
times it's been running samba).
