do not show printers?
Hello!
What can I do to tell samba to do not show the printers. I've configured
printing = no and removed the [printers]-Section, but I still see the
printers section when browsing the server. Any hints?

Method for joining machines to PDC without using root
currently, in order to join a win XP machine to a samba PDC, you
have to use the root account (although you can use an smbpasswd
and not the linux password). is there any way to set up another
account to do this one particular task (one without uid=0)?.
if we have users in remote places, i do not want to have to go over
to their work station just to log them on the the domain. alsoi don't

Need help understanding smbldap-tools and user records
Why is it that when I use "/usr/share/samba/scripts/smbldap-userad.pl -a
Administrator -g dadm" that the group doesn't get changed to dadm?
Instead it stays set to the value specified in $_defaultUserGid. Also,
I must say that I find the default of *not* adding a group for the user
very counter-intuitive.
What exactly is the difference between gidNumber and primaryGroupID in a

Samba-LDAP too imature for production?
2.2.7a
It seems that samba-ldap is still to immature for any kind of production
environment. The provided Perl scripts simply do not work with the 'add
user script' setting or if they do, then there is an an undocumented
bug, issue, etc. The scripts work fine from the command line but
aparently samba won't execute them properly. Since I cannot expect my
users to understand

Samba, email, LDAP and password integration and management
I set up a test server about a year ago to try this and gave up since it didn't seem
that the processes were quite yet in place to do it ..
I am evaluating the potential for Samba and Linux accounts (including postfix email
accounts) to share the same passwords and have a process in place to encourage users
to change their passwords and try to prevent esay to crack passwords
Could someone

LDAP - adding info to database
I have installed openldap and the samba.idealx.org ldap configuration
and scripts, and now I have ldap authentication working wonderfully
well.
I'd like to be able to use the same ldap user database for other info
such as phone numbers, email, etc, but I don't know how to add it or
whether it is a good idea. Anyone done this?

Samba+PDC+LDAP+add user script - problem
Hi!
I've a problem, I'm using samba 2.2.5-1 (debian unstable source), which I
compiled as the idealx howto explains, and all seems to work fine. Adding
Computer Accounts with "smbldap-useradd.pl -w <name>" works fine, but when i
specify
add user script = /usr/local/sbin/smbldap-useradd.pl -w %
in the smb.conf, it works fine for the first computer I add automatically. But

Dial() M parameter in 1.6.2.11-rc2
Hi,
I can't figure out what syntax to use with the Dial() "M" parameter
for the AEL parser to interpret properly. Creating an AEL
macro named "macro-screen()" partly works as a hack, but it must
not turn into a gosub properly, so I get warnings about the "return;".
Dial(...,tgM(&screen)) with the ael macro named "screen" does not work

annotating an axis in bwplot (lattice)
Hi,
I'd like to add, say, the sample size for every group in a bwplot as a
parenthetical annotation to the axis. Here's a sketch:

require(Hmisc)
age <- sample(1:100, 1000, replace = TRUE)
sex <- gl(2, 8, 1000, c("Male", "Female"))
grp <- gl(4, 6, 1000, letters[1:4])

samba resolves wrong wins ip address
Hello all,
This has been making me crazy for a while, but it seems like a really
easy fix. I just can't figure out what it is. Any ideas would be
greatly appreciated.
I have two Linux machines existing on a mostly MS network and have samba
running well on each. However, one machine resolves the wrong ip
address of the other machine. Here's the setup.

memdisk : booting OpenBSD and NetBSD
hi there.
I'm trying to boot several OSes floppy images from a cdrom via memdisk.
Actually, Linux and FreeBSD boots fine, but, while i'm using the same method,
I couldn't get into booting netbsd nor openbsd.
The boot process seems to hang up, in those two cases, when the second stage
native bootloader try to load the kernel (i'm not absolutely sure about this).
The native first

Upgrading Samba: minimum requirements for Samba wrt Solaris and gcc
Greetings list!
I have a older Samba (v 2.0.7) server compiled with
an older gcc (v 2.8.1) running on an older Solaris
(v 2.5.1).
I would like to upgrade to a newer version of Samba.
I have had trouble compiling Samba version 3.0.1
with gcc version 2.8.1 on Solaris 2.5.1:
$ ./configure

checking for C compiler default output... cat: cannot open conftest.c

SIP equivalent of zap "c" option
At the moment, we have a feature where if someone's sip extension is
called, we also make another call to their mobile. We use the "c"
option in the zap dialstring so that the user has to press "#" after
answering to confirm the call (this prevents things like the
answermachine grabbing the call if the mobile is switched off).
We are now looking to move towards a sip
