Problems printing with samba 3.5.2
Ok, I finally deployed samba 3.5.2 (upgrading from 3.0.11) on the real server after testing for a while in virtualbox.
There's a strange problem with printing: sometimes an application gives an error printing (of course the error message is meaningless, this is windows after all) and/or the job gets lost in transit.
After that stopping and restarting the local print spool service solves the

Samba/LDAP XP Authentication Weirdness
Samba 2.2.8a, RH7.3
I have successfully connected machines running XP to the samba controlled
domain.
There are 3 XP machines, each with only one user designated as a power user
(ie domain\username power user). Each can log into any of the three
machines without a problem.
Now I am trying to log a different person into any of these machines and I
get the message "System Could Not Log

Before anyone responds I would like to let everyone know my problem is
fixed :) The problem was lpr would only spool so big of a file, so I
had to add a -s option to it. Thanks once again for this great piece of

No access check deleting printer drivers
Hello list!
On all my samba installations (3.0.20b) I can delete all unused printer
drivers with rpcclient regardless which user name or password i use.
Is this a general feature or might it depend on my settings?
Thanks,
Martin

Clear text authentication impossible???
We have an Exchange 5.5 server in our Samba 3 domain und want to have POP3
access with clear text authentication from clients.
But no kind of credentials is accepted.
It did a level 10 log on the Samba server and found my clear text password
in the log (in nt_chal_resp and lm_chal_resp fields) during authentication.
Is it possible that Samba can't handle the clear-text pass-through from

Samba 3.0 Printer Install problem
Good morning,
I am working with samba-3.0.4 and LPRng 3.8.9 on RedHat 2.4.18-14 kernel. We are setting the server up to act as a print server for our W2K clients. Everything seems to be working as expected except when I try to install the drivers for our Zebra 105Se barcode printers. I am seeing log entries which I have included below. Upon trying to install the printer it seems that the

Can't get user list in Win98se
Hello all,
I've already searched the old topics about this subject on the
newsgroup, and haven't found so far an alternative to solve the problem.
I have a Samba PDC (domain JMU) with Mandriva 2006, samba 3.0.13-2 and
OpenLDAP 2.2.23 (nss_ldap 220) .
Packages installed on the server related to samba and ldap:

Trouble with usrmgr.exe in 3.0.20rc1/2
hi list,
i made some tests with 3.0.20.rc1 and rc2
seems to work stable except of one thing: managing users/groups with
usrmgr.exe
on both rc1 and rc2 the following situation occurs:
- login the domain as administrator (no matter of being uid=0 or having
SE-rights to manage machines/accounts)
- start usrmgr.exe from reskit on winxp sp2

Another problem with Win2k logins...
Hi all,
After recovering the former SID that I hadn't had in mind while changing the Linux distro (thanks to Thomas for his help), now I still have some problems. I can't still get any user to login but the ones that must be in cache in the clients (thanks again Thomas).
So, I'll give you the logs to see if anybody detects something strange...
The users can perform a 'smbclient -L

Cannot login to PDC after upgrade
We recently converted our Redhat9 Samba server to Debian Sarge/testing. We
are running (3.0.2a-Debian). After installing Debian, I itegrated the old
configuration files (smb.conf, smbpasswd, smbusers, secrets.tdb) making
changes where I thought it was necessary. When I tried to login to our
Windows 2000 server using rdesktopl, windows tells me that I've specified
the incorrect username or
