I have built a fresh box for this server using Turbo Linux server 6.5 and samba 2.2.2. I have followed all the docs and man pages that i could find. 1. security=domain problems
Hi all, We are having some problems getting a solaris 9(sparc) file server running samba 2.2.2 to authenticate aginst a windows NT 4 PDC. Let me say first that this was all working at one time, then we had some data corrumption on our NFS mounted /usr/local, and had to restore from tape. Due to some issues with solaris ufsdump and ufsrestore, stuff was not quite put back properly. We do

Win98 clients accessing Samba file server.
HI All I'm in the process of setting up my first Linux box at work, a basic file server for all 20+ Win clients (I'm sick of paying M$ CAL) all have a 'home' directory and all share a 'shared' directory. What my problem is, everything is working OK with WinXP/2000 I can see the shared directory and our own home directory on the Samba box. With Win98 I can only see and

Why is Win98 looking for user "nobody"?
Using Samba v2.0.10 on a RedHat v7.1 box, I see that the Win98 clients on our network are making sporatic requests for user "nobody" (as shown below). Anyone know what's going on here? My network has both Linux and Win98 clients, but only the Win98 clients are showing this behavior. Both the Linux and Win98 clients access the same shared drives, but only the Win98 clients use

2.2.7a securtiy 'server' auth. problems
Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before, but as far as I could see there's no similar entry in the archive. I'm using version 2.2.7a on a HP machine running HP-UX 11.11. The binaries have been created for PA-RISC 2.0 supporting 64Bit mode. The SAMBA has been configured to use securty = server. Password servers has been 'defined'. Samba 3.0.20b in ADS mode with MIT realm trust problems
Hi all, We're having some issues getting Samba to work in the way we'd like it to in our domain infrastructure. We have a real Windows domain WIN (WIN.DOC.IC.AC.UK) which is run on Windows 2003 domain controllers. We also have an MIT Kerberos realm DOC.IC.AC.UK. A realm trust exists such that WIN.DOC.IC.AC.UK trusts DOC.IC.AC.UK for authentication, and users have appropriate Kerberos

Migration Samba3 -> Samba4: Accessing domain member server is not working
Hi ... When trying to migrate from samba3 to samba 4.2.2 I am facing a severe problem that bugs me for hours now. I cannot get a samba 4.2.2 fileserver to work with a samba 4.2.2 PDC as a domain member. My scenario: Samba 3 network. PDC and fileserver where Samba 3.6.25. LDAP backend. We can't move to AD right now so I wanted to move to the current 4.2.2 at least to do this step but to

Samba file sharing with AD authentication doesn't work on some boxes
I have a few RHEL7 boxes, all of them are members in MS Win domain using SSSD. All of these linuxes run Samba for file sharing with the same config. Usually it works nice, but from time to time users cannot map Samba folders, with the following message in the log: [2017/03/07 14:58:27.050493, 0] ../source3/auth/auth_domain.c:121(connect_to_domain_password_server)

Help on time series & Hurst exponent
Hello, I'm an absolute beginner with R. I'm hoping to do some time-series analysis on my data. The data looks like #time value 18 153 20 426 70 7 83 130 84 7 and so on where time could be in seconds or hours or days (not all at the same time). How could I import such a file to R and do some simple stuff (say plot the values)? As per the tutorials on time series, I could use the ts()

problem configuring smbd for domain authentication
Hello everyone, I am trying to configure a Samba 2.2 server to allow users to mount their home directories (stored on a UNIX filesystem) from Windows after authenticating against a Windows 2000 Domain Controller. The Samba server is 2.2.3a compiled with acl support on Solaris 8. I think I am experiencing some (hopefully) basic configuration issues and can't seem to get it to work. I

smbd/password.c:domain_client_validate(1604)
All, we have a SAMBA server set up that has been working great for everyone in the corporate office, not to long ago I connected one of our foreigh offices to us through a VPN. All of our users authenticate to our PDC, our users in our foreign office, who is on the same domain but we have them on a different subnet, are not able to gain access to the SAMBA shares, here in the corporate office.
