Samba pdc, Norton Ghost enterprise edition and joining the domain?
Hi List. We have a Samba 3.0pre21 PDC set up here on our prim. fileserver. We use Windows 2000 SP2 on our PC clients. We install clients with system images from disk and than install applications from one central machine running Norton Ghost EE. Ghost has the functionality not only to install the software from the "console" on the ghost server, but it is also able to make the

joining domain fails because of no samba entries with 3.0.23c
Hello All, I am having a very strange problem with samba 3.0.23c. I upgraded everything from 3.0.9 and I am able to smbclient to the samba 3.0.23c PDC with the administrator user just fine. When I go to add a machine to the domain, it adds the unix machine account to the ou=computers like it is supposed to but none of the samba entries are added. I get an error on the windows side of

When I join I get the "welcome to the domain message" and then I restart. However when trying to login I get "This systems computer account is not in the

Active Directory join, stages, and AD accounts issues
I have a mostly working set of modules to replace our kickstart and about a dozen scripts. I am having issues with attempting to populate my AD account-owned user folders in the initial puppet run. The machines i am testing with are all CentOS 5.5 so far. I have defined 3 additional stages, Stage [init] -> Stage [pre] -> Stage [main] -> Stage [post] to attempt to fix this to no avail.

New problem with Mac OS X + rails + mysql. Please help!
All, I am working through the ''depot'' sample application from the "Pragmatic Programmers" book on my powerbook. I was going through the install process on http://hivelogic.com/articles/2005/12/01/ ruby_rails_lighttpd_mysql_tiger and it seemed to work fine. But when I try to create the first table, I get the following error, and I have no idea what this means. Any

Problem running a program that uses .NET 2.0 SP1
There's a program I'm trying to run called UOCartographer, which is a mapping tool for an online game I play. I use wine 1.2.2 under Slackware 13.37 64 bit (multilib). I of course installed the .NET component with Winetricks, but it gave a slew of error messages. After poking around online and looking at similar errors, I installed jet40 and gdiplus, which cut down most of the errors. But

theora-mmx_on_win32?
Hi. Has anyone tried http://svn.xiph.org/branches/theora-mmx this code on Win32 ? I can compile it with very small modification, 304c304 < ogg_int16_t *const temp= (ogg_int16_t*)align_tmp; --- > ogg_int16_t *const temp= (int16_t*)align_tmp; but outputs seem terribly broken. -> ex. http://mycomputer.cc/temp/mmx-out.ogg GCC version is 3.4.2. $ gcc --version gcc.exe (GCC) 3.4.2

SSH - Winbind and Keybased Auth
Hi Team, We have a weird issue that we are trying to understand. We have winbind set up and working successfully for user authentication with passwords via ssh. We have pam.d/system-auth-ac and password-auth-ac (symlinked) set to require membership of a group which works great via password authentication. However, if the user has a ssh key set up, they seem to bypass the group membership

Re: nazi spam in German over list address
It is mostly the Sober.Q worm, a new Sober variant that has come out that is causing all of the trouble. Been getting quite a bit at work but it has all been tagged as spam. Failover DC did not work when Main DC failed
My reverse zones have PTR records. Though I don't have NS records for all of my DC's. I guess that needs to be manually created. Also, you don't have any CNAMES or domain overrides pointing to a single DC? Perhaps Bind is pointing to another internal DNS server, and then to a public DNS? ---- Here's a way to test failover from a Windows client: You can switch logon servers

Samba 3 PDC - trouble renaming domain member computer
All, I've got a Samba 3 PDC serving numerous XP clients, and I'm getting an error I wouldn't have expected. When trying to rename an XP machine joined to the domain (via "netdom renamecomputer"), the command fails unless the specified domain user has UID 0. The command in question: netdom renamecomputer %COMPUTERNAME% /newname:%NEWNAME% /userD:DOMAIN\USER

link-dest + fuzzy twice = vanished
Hello, I use --link-dest which works perfectly : rsync -a -R --link-dest="../2016-12-28/" --link-dest="../2016-12-27/" /my/backup/folder ::daemon/mycomputer/2016-12-29/ Now I would like to use --fuzzy --fuzzy, so that rsync algorithm can also work with similarly named files found in other link-dest directories. So I simply added --fuzzy --fuzzy to my previous command line.

Join 2012 Server R2 as member to NT domain
Is it still possible to join a Windows 2012 Server R2 system as a member to a 'pre-NT5' Samba (3.6.23) domain controller? The Windows 'Domain Change' GUI errors immediately after failing the SRV lookup for the AD server. Even with the SRV record in place, the GUI fails trying to connect to the non-existent LDAP port. Netdom on the command line tries to work if the DC name
