Group problems and at my wits' end!
Hi,
I posted before that I was having problems with root showing up as a member of
GID 1001 which I had set to 'engr'. Someone sent me an email saying that
this was because gid=0 was also trying to map to RID=1001. Well, ok. So I
made an explicit mapping from gid=0 to rid=0. I don't want "Domain Admins"
to also be gid=0. It seems like it could cause more damage. So

IE doesn't honour sub-domains for localhost
Hello
I recently re-installed IE on Kubuntu 8.04 using wine with ie4linux
As a web developer I host a fair few websites on my local machine which are configured using Apache and Bind.
The problem:
IE6 ignores the sub-domain and directs all traffic to the host domain.
for example:
domain = http://whitestar.net
sub-domain = http://jitsc.whitestar.net
IE display = http://whitestar.net

At my wits end ! Controlling passed in negative values from a form
Hi,
I am trying to validate a numeric value passed in from a form, which
is saved in a MySQL db as decimal(9,2)
Now problem is I need to ensure people don''t enter a form value like -.
003. In my validations, I have a validates_numericality_of check being
done. Furthermore, in validate method, I have a check using an if
statement such as :
((an_object[n].nil? or an_object[n] < 0) and

Nearing my wits end....bad switch???
Grasping at straws here...is anyone using a Dell PowerConnect 2224
24-port unmanaged 10/100 switch in a deployment?
I have two separate asterisk installations with bad one-way audio where
the only common elements left are the Dell switches and Polycom IP-500
phones. Two different ITSPs - one location uses IAX2 to the outside
world, the other SIP. Two different bandwidth providers, one SDSL 1.5

Receptionist
Hi,
Quick question. With an old phone system a receptionist receiving a call
has 1 button to push to transfer calls to a specific extension, with
Asterisk, a receptionist would actually put the caller on hold, pick up
another line, call the extension, ask if the person is available, hang up
pick up the caller again and transfer. To me it's seems a long way to
simply do a receptionist

Asterisk hangs up SIP call after 6 200 retransmits
I have the following scenario:
PSTN gateway (202.180.nnn.nnn) -> OpenSER 1.0.1 (147.202.nnn.nnn) -> Asterisk 1.2.16
(203.89.nnn.nnn)
When an incoming call is received, often (but not always) Asterisk repeatedly sends a SIP 200 OK message and eventually hangs up the call.

Corrupted transaction log file / record size too small
I recently upgradeded dovecot on one of our servers from version 1.0.10

Extensions will not go to voicemail
I have a remote installation that connects via IAX from my office pbx.
When I call an extension on the remote pbx, after the dial period, the
call is terminated. Nothing I do in configuration of that extension
seems to matter:

fitted values in LMER for the fixed-effects only
Hi,
I would like to extract the fitted values from a model using LMER but
only for the fix portion of the model and not for the fix and random
portion (e.g it is the procedure outpm or outp in SAS). I am aware of
the procedure fitted() but I not sure it give the fitted values both for
the fixed and random or only the fixed. I looked in the r help and the r
list and I haven?t not found much

again, nic driver order
I have two servers with identical hardware ... TYAN i3210w system
boards with dual intel gigabit interfaces, and a PCI intel gigabit
nic. I'm running Centos 5.4, x86_64, 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5
Every other time I reboot, the nics initialize in a different order.
anaconda had setup /etc/modprobe.conf with alias lines for the cards:
alias eth0 e1000
alias eth1 e1000e
alias eth2 e1000e

Iax and ZAP
I have a working system with two fxo and two fxs channels. I recenlty got an IAX2 account I would like to use also.
While I have gotten the IAX2 channel to "register", it remains non functional, as the incoming calls, go nowhere and the outgoing calls attempt to go out over the ZAP channel. I can see this, via the CLI, with debugs on.
I strongly suspect this is a dial plan/config

rsync fails to exclude... sometimes?
Hello List.
I am using rsync to pull html files from a shared drive to 2 web server
boxes to keep the files synchronized.
However, I have a few files I do not want rsync to copy over because they
contain information specific (IP address) to the box hosting them.
Rsync seems to intermittently ignore the exclude statement and copies them
from time to time. Is there a way to absolutely prevent

Oplock break request failures
I hope someone can enlighten me on this.
Situation: NT network, Samba PDC, about 20 NT 4.0 workstations. log(s).smbd
are created per machine for easier analysis (as log.smbd.<NetBios Name>).
Not often, but often enough to be of concern, are errors in
request_oplock_break that seem to indicate that another smbd process that
should be listening for break requests on a UDP socket
