RH9 compile problems AND WinXP netlogon script
Because of the original issue below, it dawned on me to re-compile Samba after the RH9 upgrade from RH7.1. The make fails, and I was hoping someone could shed some light on either/both issues. I'm compiling Samba 2.2.8a with: ./configure --with-smbwrapper --with-pam --with-syslog --with-netatalk --prefix=/var/samba --with-quotas --with-smbmount --with-shadow No errors there, but make fails

3 seconds login delay
Hello, We recently switched from "security = user" to "security = server". And are now using a NT4 server for password authentication. This method gives less problems with NT4/W2K Workstations and encrypted passwords. When we where using "security = user" Samba authentication was against the local Unix password files and login was fast without any delay. After the

Samba 2.2.7a and SunOS 5.8
I have 2 Sun servers. One is running Samba 2.0.7 and I have no problems with response time or performance. The other server is running Samba 2.2.7a and on this server there are performance issues, slowness and long response times with long latencies over 400 msec. Both Sun server's are running SunOS 5.8. Is Samba 2.2.7a supported on this Unix box or is for a Linux server? Should I be

compilation problems with 2.2.7a on OpenBSD 3.2 using --with-ldap sam
Hello, last weekend I downloaded installed the openldap port for openbsd 3.2, which installed ldap.h and lber.h (among others) into /usr/local/include as well as liblber.a and libldap.a into /usr/local/lib. Following that, I downloaded samba-latest, ran ./configure --with-ldapsam --libdir=/usr/local/lib --includedir=/usr/local/include which came back with no problems to speak of. So I ran

R-1.4.0 / Atlas 3.3.13 / gcc 2.95.3 / RH 7.2 / Athlon build appears successful
The build of R-1.4.0 with Atlas 3.3.13, both compiled with gcc 2.95.3 on an Athlon Thunderbird (1.333 GHz) running otherwise stock Red Hat Linux 7.2, appears to have been successful. R passed all its built-in checks. This is the first time I've been able to get all of this to work together; the last few times I tried this (late June or early July IIRC), R did not pass its checks when linked

performance issues: gcc 2.95.3 vs. gcc 3.2.0
Hello, I recently installed gcc 3.2.0 next to my old gcc 2.95.3 . I understood that this should give me some performance gain. I indeed found some, but in a few cases I actually observed a considerable loss in performance. I would be interested to learn if others have similar experiences, and what the general opinion is concerning what version (and flags) to use for R! 1) gcc 3.2.0 -O3 can be

libvorbis-1.0 patch for Solaris 5.8 buggy libc qsort.
Solaris 5.8 has a quirky qsort that requires the ability to recognize elements as equal. here is a patch I have created to deal w/ this problem. I apologize if the patch is in the wrong format and would love to be corrected if wrong. I used the following to create the patch libvorbis-1.0> diff -u lib/psy.c lib/psy_new.c > libv.patch <p><p><p><p> --------------

CentOS 5.8, xen kernel, and nfs4
G'day, I have a workstation running CentOS 5.8 with kernel 2.6.18-308.el5. This workstation needs to mount a NFS4 directory on a server (mysvr in the example below). If the computer is running the XEN kernel (uname -a reports ...2.6.18-308.el5xen), my NFS4 share is mounted but "ls" reports an error. Xen kernel: uname -a ...2.6.18-308.el5xen mount | grep mysvr

migrating from Centos 5.8 -> 6.3 LDAP Client Config
Hi, I run a Centos 5.8 samba server which uses a separate LDAP centos 6.3 server for user and group authentication. Now we migrate to a new centos 6.3 samba server and I'd like to know how do 'ldapify' that new server the best way. I'm a bit confused if I can use the same nss setup like on the current old server or how and what to configure to go with SSSD? May be someone can

Openwindows run on remote machine on OpenSSH_3.9p1 solaris 5.8
Hi, I've had some strange recent behaviour from ssh (OpenSSH_3.9p1 Solaris 5.8). I have an application that runs a script that run a remote command over ssh, however rather than running the command ssh tried to run openwindows (an xsession app, i think). Every time the application ran the command the same issue would occur, until the application was restarted. The command it should have been
