Compilation warning on 2.2.7a
It seems pretty typical that compilation warnings can be essentially ignored. Be that as it may, if I can't find evidence that a warning can be ignored in the archives, I am compelled to ask about it. A nod that these are OK or a fix for them if they are not OK would be appreciated. I am getting several warnings with winbind_nss.c : Compiling nsswitch/winbind_nss.c with -fPIC

documentation project
Greetings from Brazil, I want to know if are there any Brazilians here which want to create a home page with documentation for people who wants to use SAMBA. I've just finished some projects here, and have documentated stuff which i want to share with other users. I want to know if it is possible to add a link in the samba.org home page for a possible site for Brasilians users. Waiting

Samba + Active Directory
Hi, I?m having much trouble on configuring Samba to work on an Active Directory environment. Using getent password I?m able to see AD?s users. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g also work fine. When someone from a Windows try to access my Samba server, the smd password window is shown (I think that the autehntication would be transparent, wouldn't it ?), any password I provide is rejected: I tried AD

Domain
Hi, I am new to this list and to the world of Linux so please forgive my basic knowledge. I am after some information regarding samba. We are running a few servers with RedHat 7.1 all with dual nics. One NIC of each goes to a level 3 routing switch on one network and the second NIC in each server goes out to different networks. We have a few Windows 95 machine that

rsync on Interix WSU 3.5
I'm need to run a rsync server on a Quad 2.8Ghz , 1Gb RAM, 1Terabyte of disk.. Dell 725N - it's a storage, NAS type box running W2K, RAID 5 etc.. A real beast.. :-) The Unix guys want to backup their boxes to this beast using rsync clients. It would seem that Windows Services for Unix (WSU) is the key.. Current version gives me a fully compliant POSIX environment, not reliant on

Rsync - expensive startup question
Hi there, I'm using rsync with some large trees of files (on one disk, we have 30M files, for example, and a we might be copying say, 500k files in one tree. The file trees are reasonably balenced -- no single directory has thousands of files in it, for example. Our file system, at the moment, is ext3. We are very comfortable with it, and are hesitant to switch away from it, though JFS or

Now i want to delete such a volume but i got the message: $ lvremove /dev/Xen0/Win2kServer Can''t remove open logical volume "Win2kServer" The volume is not in use by any VM, but there is a partition table on it with 8Megs of free space and a ntfs partition. I also got 2

Samba update FreeBSD
Perhaps a rather stupid question, but I have not found the complete correct way to upgrade a Samba installation on FreeBSD. I always use the ports to install the newer version, but after a while I discovered that the installation of the new version did not uninstall the previous version, so when you look at the installed packages (pkg_info) you can see all older versions, they can be uninstalled

smbclient & printing on win2k box with HP Deskjet 560C (Drivers?) SMB 2.2.3a - Kernel 2.4.7, red hat 7.2
Hi LUs, I dont have much time at the moment to read tons of documentation. So, I would like to ask a hopefully easy to answer question. Samba is running alright with me, smbclient works fine, but I would like to print from my Linux box over LAN to a printer (HP 560C) connected to a win2k box. Because I can't afford a better or second printer & I also havent got enough room for it

Hlink node data for 2282618 already has path=...
So, like a lot of people, I am using --link-dest to do backups. My backup target is ext4 so with a hard link limit of 64K. I do end up with trying to create too many links at some point though and get the following sequence of events: rsync: link "/.snapshots/hourly.0/linux/usr/src/openwrt-r18617/build_dir/host/mpfr-2.4.1/tests/.deps/tui_sub.Po" =>
