Samba, CUPs & Win2000 printing
I'm very new to Linux and Samba so bear with me - I am migrating our business to a Linux/Samba network from an NT network - using Samba as a PDC. We are running RH7.3, Samba v2.2.7a, and CUPS v1.1.14 I have a test network set-up which includes the Linux/Samba PDC server, a Win2000 client and a HP Jetdirect network printer (Laserjet 4Si) Domain logons and filesharing works fine, but I

Clarifying CUPS Printing
We have been using CUPS to handle printing and have run into some "features" some of which a fresh install of the responsible server will probably fix. However there are some disparities between the documentation and our practical experience for which a clear statement would help others. The docs state when using CUPS the relevent lines of SMB.CONF should look like this: printing=cups

Cups printers troubles
Ok... here we go, I have a server running RH 7.3, samba 2.2.3a, and CUPS 1.1.14. All the printers we have are networked printers sitting off of Linksys printservers. On this server I am sharing all off our printers out via Samba. See my smb.conf file below. This server works perfectly. All printers are shared out successfully. Primary CUPS server: [global] workgroup = NEW

Samba/CUPS Windows Print Queue Not Showing Up
I have installed Samba-3.0.22 with CUPS on my Solaris 10 box. It prints fine and shows up in my CUPS queue but active print jobs in my CUPS queue don't show up in my Windows Print Driver queue on my client! I've also tried not using CUPS and having it call lpstat but it still doesn't work! When I run CUPS' lpstat in command line it can see the jobs. What am I doing wrong?

windows XP native printer driver upload
I can upload most drivers to samba (2.2.6pre). However when it comes to the built-in windows XP drivers I am faced with a dialog box asking for the driver location. I've tried various directories on the cd and inside of windows itself but it constantly puts up an error message saying that no drivers could be found in e:\printers\nt4\i386 no matter what path i choose it seems to revert to

Samba / cups problem
Hi all, I have set up a printer in cups and I can see it with lpstat -a, and I can print to it. I put what I thought was the appropriate stuff in smb.conf, and yet no printer shows up to the NT client I'm testing with, or in smbclient -L output. Any ideas at all? Here is the relevant info: ### smb.conf excerpts ### [global] ... printing = cups printcap name = cups printcap cache

CUPS and Samba 3.0 - printers no show
Hi [Samba]s I have RedHat 8.0, and have installed a compiled CUPS 1.1.19pre4 and Samba 3.0 (latest this week from CVS). It all compiles and installs OK with CUPS support in Samba, but no printers show up (according to smbclient -L or from windoze) when "printing=cups" is used. It is OK if another form of printing is used, for example "printing=sysv". A reversion to Samba

Samba and Cups [BUG in alpha24]
Sven Anderson sven_anderson at spray.se > Fri May 23 21:49:15 GMT 2003 > > > Cups must be started before smbd or vise versa. Try both. Not "vice versa". CUPS must be up and running ("lpstat -r" must be returning "scheduler is running"). This is precisely because of the described bug, which causes Samba *not* to update the list of available printers

Trouble with CUPS/SAMBA
Hi all, I'm new to this list, as to SAMBA, and I'm struggling with getting a printer to work as a shared printer in a Windows network with a redhat 9 server. The printer is a HP 4550 Color LaserJet, installed with CUPS to the server, via JetDirect (port 9100). It prints testpages fine from the Linux-server. It was installed with the install-printer-utility in RedHat9. I have then shared

Problems loading printer list using Samba 2.2.7a with CUPS
I am using Samba to successfully load the printer list directly from CUPS with one fairly significant caveat. If a printer is added to CUPS while Samba is running there is apparently nothing I can do to have it visibly appear when doing a list of the services in Samba (such as with "smbclient -L"). This is also a problem if Samba starts before CUPS in the boot sequence. I find that

WINSPOOL_EnumPrinters Found 0 printers one system with 1 parallel CUPS printer
I've had this problem for a while, but only recently have I realized that I better fix it soon! I compile my own Wine out of git. Currently, I'm running wine-0.9.29-g5441536 but this issue appeared long before that. Moreover, I stopped being able to print between Wine updates, so I don't think it is anything to do with changes in Wine's code. The simplest way to reproduce my
