Help with: "Cannot copy Filename: The specified network name is no longer available" error
I am not sure if this is a windows problem or a Samba problem. We have a network consisting of a mixture of Samba and windows servers running under a windows PDC. The network is a WAN with radio (802.11B) point-to-point links between buildings within the campus, and frame relay and ADSL links to interstate offices. The interstate offices have windows BDC's. Most of the desktops are win2k

Samba 3.0 / Cups - Shared Printers vanishing
Hi! I am using Samba 3.0.4 + CUPS as a print server for a lot of windows machines. Since some days, all shared printers are gone every morning. Printers are still accessible in CUPS, but if you open a windows explorer and view the shares of the print server... there's nothing. Printing also does not work. Restarting samba & winbind solves the problem until the next morning. Does

Vanishing options in hp printer drivers
We're using a couple of HP printers (2200, 4200, 3390) using the HP PCL 6 printer driver. Printer drivers are installed on the samba (3.0.24) box, connecting, driver installation and printing work OK. Problem: using the same driver version with the printer shared by a windows box gives some additional options like - brochure printing - putting serveral pages on one sheet Any Idea why

[Fwd: Re: rsync server complaining about vanishing files while they are not.]
Greetings. Yep, I have set "use chroot = no" for the module and it works. The symlinks I have are created automatically by a tool and are absolute. But since "use chroot = no" handles well absolute links from root/, the transfer works A1. Thanks for your input, Wayne. Human readable user names vanishing from acls
When setting file permissions from MS environment to a file on a Samba4 share, it can be made in clear text with human readable user/group names and the rights seem to work. However when checking the permissions again from an MS environment, instead of human readable user/group names there are plain SID numbers in their place and there is an icon apparently signifying an unknown SID. How to keep

The mystery of the vanishing print job
I suppose I should start by saying that the system is running a fresh installation of RedHat 6.0, and I've done so little that I'm amazed that I've managed to do something wrong ;) I have a genuine article postscript printer (an old QMS PS-410 for what it's worth) connected to lp0 and setup as "lp" such that when I type "lpr somefile" somefile is printed out. I

Vanishing maildirsize files with 1.0.7 using 'deliver' via postfix
Aloha, I've searched the list and have found no similar reports, so I'm asking here. We have 3 RH5.1 boxes running the stock Postfix 2.3.3, but due to issues with the stock Dovecot 1.0rc15, Redhat supplied us with the version of Dovecot 1.0.7 that will be in Redhat 5.2. The mail store is automounted per-user from a Sun box via NFS. We were using it with no problems until last Friday,

Vanishing work group on samba 2.2.8
Hello I have a small problem which I hope you can help with. We are running samba 2.2.8a on a V880 using Solaris 9. Up until today there were, as far as we know, no problems with the service. Today a change was done to add 6 additional shares to the system. This was done by editing the configuration file and issuing a kill -HUP to the samba service. All appeared to be OK until access was

Vanishing Permissions on Shares
I am trying to move our network from windows NT-2k to Samba /Linux. So far everything is great but there is one main obstacle; when I apply permissions to a Samba share via my W2K workstation, the permissions instantly disappear. This happens regardless of the owner / creator of file or the user / group permission I attempt to add. I have run 2.2.7, 2.2.8, and now 3.0 beta3. All three behave

Vanishing Globals
Gents, I have what I thought was a simple scenario, but IE seems to have found a way to make it difficult: I am creating pairs of drop-downs of times of the day (9:00, 9:15, ...) on the fly (using AJAX) and want to be able to adjust the displayed difference between them in hours onChange and store this information in a global hash. Straightforwardly enough, I simple use Event.observe to set up an

listening experiment
Hi All, I was wondering whether there have been some listening experiments done to test how well spatial information is preserved in the celt signal, e.g. comparison of sound localization performance for the original uncompressed sound and the celt sound (most probably for different bit rates). Debugging a STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
I am trying to track down the source of some STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION in Restricted Area (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=8710) and I can find an seh that coincides with the freezes, but I can't figure out what is throwing it. I've pasted an example below. Any thoughts on where to go from here? Code: 0009:trace:seh:raise_exception code=c0000005

Vanishing facts
Hello all, I am running puppet 2.7.1 with mongrel and an apache proxy. I have been seeing an issue where it appears that the puppetmaster is completely ignoring any facts that are sent to it. When a client connects, any configuration that relies on facts shows those variables as being empty strings. (I have been testing this with a simple notify resource that prints out the IP address and the
