Samba 4.4.16 %g translation fails for some users
Hi all, Just migrated users to a samba 4 server on built on Solaris 11 samba pkg. Some users are mapping all required drives (G:, H:, and I:) but some are not able to map them. The affected users user log files indicate that the %g variable is being translated to '-1' instead of the users Unix group. I would welcome any feedback or suggestions on how to resolve this issue. >From my

The other computers that are working just fine are Win98, XP and Win2K NOT sp4. Here is part of the global section: printing = bsd load printers = yes disable spoolss = yes printcap name

ssh authentication issue
I am trying to ssh from one samba server (linux OS) to another samba server (Solaris OS). The keys and authorized_keys files are set up correctly with proper permissions but I keep getting prompted for a password. Has anyone had to deal with this before? Any suggestions for resolving would be appreciated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daulton Theodore Carleton University Library Systems Department

Strange unexplainable CUPS problem after upgrade to 5.10
I manage a bunch of workstations at the Wendell Free Library. They are all diskless, boot via PXE and mount all of their file systems via NFS from a server. All of the machines are 32-bit and run CentOS (fully up-to-date running 5.10). There are two printers with queues managed on the server. The server 'shares' these printers on the local LAN (eg with all of the workstations).

Samba / cups problem
Hi all, I have set up a printer in cups and I can see it with lpstat -a, and I can print to it. I put what I thought was the appropriate stuff in smb.conf, and yet no printer shows up to the NT client I'm testing with, or in smbclient -L output. Any ideas at all? Here is the relevant info: ### smb.conf excerpts ### [global] ... printing = cups printcap name = cups printcap cache

excessive lpstat calls
I run a fairly busy samba server that only serves up users' home directory. I am running Samba v3.0.20 under Solaris 10 on a Sun v440. I'm seeing a large number of calls to '/usr/bin/lpstat -v'. These are probably occuring everytime a new client connects, but I'm not positive. The server does not have any printers attached to it, has no entries in /etc/printers.conf, and
