Winbind UID
Please note that I am not on the mailing list. Please respond to Ken.Lynch@luxfer.net. I did not want to join the list just to ask one question. I need to know what UID's are being given to a domain user when they logon. Is there any way to view the winbindd_imap.tdb or winbindd_cache.tdb. Is there any utilities that would allow me to see the mappings. Thanks for any ideas, Ken Lynch

Samba3 parallel installable RPMs for Mandrake 9.0
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have been updating the packaging for Mandrake in HEAD, which means it is now possible to build RPMs of HEAD which are parallel installable with Mandrake RPMs of 2.2.x. Of course, you can only run one version of samba on a given interface. To do this, update to HEAD cvs if your snapshot is older than late yesterday. then: $ cd packaging/Mandrake $

RPMs of alpha21 for Mandrake 9.0
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have built RPMs for Mandrake 9.0 that will parallel install with an existing samba-2.2.x installation (you should be running 2.2.7-2.1mdk if your machine is up-to-date). samba-2.2.7a RPMs available for Mandrake 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0
Just a quick note that I have finalised RPMs of 2.2.7a for Mandrake 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0. They are currently available from http://ranger.dnsalias.com/mandrake/samba . Updates are in the works for 9.0, and RPMs for all releases should go to the samba mirrors soon, but if you're having problems with large file support, or are still running 2.2.6 for large file support, I thought you might

Authenticating from Windows domains via winbind the easy way
Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement, but in the past 6 weeks or so there have probably been close on 100 questions on getting Winbind working. For those of you who are new to linux/samba, you may want to consider using Mandrake 9.0 for your first implementation, since *everything* (ok, there is one bug which I will mention) is taken care of for you. When installed in expert mode, you

RE : S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Thanks for your answer. So for my PDF printer, I switched back to BSD printing (calling cups-lpd), and keeped the local (to PDF printer) print command definition. It works now. I still had to add to cups (which automatically generates the /etc/printcap file) a fake printer with the name of the pdf printer (to avoid the loss of the manual addendum to /etc/printcap for the pdf printer). Status of LDAP support in 2.2.5
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have just migrated our samba box to use ldapsam, and now I have a few questions: 1)I would like to now get users passwords into unix hashes in the LDAP server. Password changes seem to be working correctly, adding unix password hashes to the LDAP server (via pam password change = yes and using pam_ldap). However, I would like to try and get
