Promise TX2 and ATARAID....... kjouirnald and kupdated seem to fight it out for reasourses
What is really puzzling me is that the ataraid device (/dev/ataraid/d0p1 mounted as /bigdisk)
2x 123GB IBM Deskstar's is formated as ext2...top and ps etc... show a fight between kjournald and kupdated
and all searches for kjournald or kupdated fights suggest ext3 issues... :-)

Kernel 2.4.19 ext3 problem
My system is RH7.2 with custom 2.4.18 or 2.4.19 kernel(s), downloaded
from kernel.org. My root filesystem is ext3 on ataraid. I'm using initrd.
My system comes up fine with 2.4.18 kernel, but when trying to boot
a new 2.4.19 kernel I get the following sequence:

ext3 + quota + 2.4.19 + load
hi,
I was trying to use ext3 with quota and 2.4.18, but when the system had
sustained load, eventually the system fell on deadlock. By that time, I
was told to use the latest -ac patch, and maybe the problem would no
longer exist. But instead I went back to ext2 and waited for 2.4.19 to
come out. Now I tryed 2.4.19 with ext3 and all the same thing, but the
system hanged up again.
Please tell

Hi,
I am running a dual Athelon/Tyan MP system. It is a pretty simple minded
setup, 512 MB ram + a few ide disks. No raid, no scsi, no disk quotas, no
nfs, no samba. Recently I have been able to hang the system (requiring
hardware reset, can't ping, console frozen) at will by doing large compile
jobs. This has occurred with a stock RedHat 7.3

After i patch kernel getting some errors, the HTB kernel option shows up
but when i make modules it finds something wrong with the sch_htb.o module.
Could somebody give me a hand on this?
Thanks in advance.

Problems patching kernel 2.4.19-r9
A question about the tc binary and diff file that are
included in htb3.6-020525.tgz. I can''t seem to patch tc
in the source tree, and that has made me hesitate to
alternatively substitute the native /usr/sbin/tc for
the binary supplied with the patch materials. I''m
running kernel 2.4.19-r9, and when I run
xingu:/usr/src/linux #patch -p1 --dry-run <

Patches since 2.4.19
Just looking through the 2.4.20pre changelogs, I see there's been a bunch
of Ext3 patches since 2.4.19. I'm keen to take advantage of any bug fixes
and performance improvements, but am nervous about using 2.4.20 until
it's completed its release cycle.
Is there any way to get a patch just containing the Ext3 changes? Are
there any changes since 2.4.20 that are very important, either

ALTQ and cpufreq(4)
Hello,
I've met some quite strange reboots recently on my home gateway. I'm
trying to reduce its power consumption, so I've loaded the cpufreq(4) driver,
and enabled powerd. After this the box started to reboot randomly all over the
place. I started to think what can cause the trouble, removing the cpufreq(4)
support would be too trivial, so I've removed the ALTQ references from

Hello CentOS,
Does anyone know if there's a driver out there that'll enable CentOS
