samba-2.2.3a bug, including fix
Hi - here's how to reproduce the problem.
umask 22
mkdir foo
chmod 311 foo
mkdir foo/baz
echo hello > foo/baz/test.txt
then type the path to test.txt into Windows explorer (for example) -
can't browse to it as foo isn't readable, but you can get there by
typing the path as there's search permission. It works, but generates:

smbd - wide links / possible buffer failure??
Hello there,
sorry - my first mail seems to be lost?
Might be I am wrong, but it seems that the behavior of wide link option
has been changed since 2.2.7. So we have some problems on our large side
to upgrade to 2.2.8a. Here is what I found, but it may be not the
intention of samba developer!
There ist a new function called readlink_checkin smbd/vfs.c. In this
function is a pattern compare

access denied to home directory
Hi All,
I'm running Samba 2.2.7a on Solaris 8. Since installing 2.2.7, we've
been having a problem where occassionally (starting to happen more)
users are denied access to their home directory. They are able to login
and their roaming profile is downloaded (which is in their [homes]
share).
But as soon as they try to get to their home directory, they get an
access denied error.

Systemd sequencing problem in Fedora 16,17
I am running nut in Fedora 17 (previously 16). There is a bug in
startup that I think I understand well enough to explain. The symptom
is that upsd refuses to start at boot time, complaining:

Access Error for Roaming Profiles Share
Hi,
I am trying to address some error messages that are hitting the log files
for two 4.9.5-Debian file servers in our all-Samba AD domain. Most

I just upgraded R to 3.0.0 from 2.15.1 (which worked fine). When I started
trying to install updated versions of the libraries, I saw the following
error:

Win2k oplocks and you
Hello list!
I've seen the threads in this months archives on oplock issues, so I
hope I am not hitting a sore spot by bringing it up again. The reason I
am beating on this is that I've got a testable, repeatable issue with
Win2K terminal server (SP2) running CorelDRAW 10 (patched to current)
against a Debian Woody box running Samba 2.2.3a-6 for Debian. Since I
can repeatedly test the

what does cut(data, breaks=n) actually do?
Hello,
I'm trying to bin a quantity into 2-3 bins for calculating entropy and
mutual information. One of the approaches I'm exploring is the cut()
function, which is what the mutualInfo function in binDist uses. When it's
called in the format cut(data, breaks=n), it somehow splits the data into n
distinct bins. Can anyone tell me how cut() decides where to cut?
Thanks,
Melissa

winbuilder warnings and errors
Hello,
I have been developing a package for phylogenetic analysis which I
plan to submit to CRAN soon. It passes R CMD check with no warnings
on my linux and Mac OS X machines. I don't have much experience with
Windows and have been using the win-builder service to see how the
package compiles on Windows. (Thank you for this service, Uwe, it is
a huge time saver for me!)
I have tried

In mean.default(X[[50L]], ...) : argument is not numeric or logical: returning NA
Hi Arun,
Thank you so much for your help. In the end, I wound up using:
sp.data$spores<-as.numeric(as.character(sp.data$spores))
The stats guy on campus helped me :)
Be well,
Melissa

Re: Asterisk and MWI
MessageMelissa -
I added the "fromuser=AnyName" to my sip.conf file stations and that, in fact, corrected the problem. The MWI now works flawlessly.
I would recommend that Aastra/Sayson pursue this with the Asterisk team so that it is listed as a known issue or to have Asterisk patched to fix it. I will submit a bug on it as well. I'm copying the Users Mailing List on this.

Re: MWI problems on 9133i
Thank you Melissa. I love the phone but the dial keypad is a little bouncy.
I was hoping for a more solid feel like on the analog PT390's or my quality
standard, the Nortel 9417CW.
Other than the MWI problem, I'd like more documentation on the configuration
paramters. I have found little online configuration documentation other
than very basic stuff on the Sayson website. I'd

finding rows in a matrix that match a vector
Hi,
Please excuse my ignorance, but I am just learning R (this is my very first
day programming in R) and having a really hard time figuring out how to do
the following:
I have a matrix that is 1000 row by 6 columns (named 'table.combos') and a 1
row by 6 column vector (named 'mine'). I want to find every row in
'table.combos' that equals 'mine' and then count
