Can't mount Samba share on Linux box, Windows clients OK
Hi all. I've got most of the Samba config dialed in yet I still cannot get printing or file sharing going from my main desktop (Debian Sarge). Here's what I tried: root@PlanetExpress:/home/bax# mount -t smbfs -o username=planetexpress, password=tigerlily //printserver/homes /mnt/Samba Unknown parameter encountered: "passdb backend" Ignoring unknown parameter "passdb

Redhat 8 printcap
Baxter, I could be wrong, but I thought /etc/printcap was the config for bsd style printing - not cups. Broken pipe with 2.2.8a and Solaris 2.5.1
The source code seems to compile fine but when I try to join the NT4 domain I get a broken pipe error and it stops. The command I am using is smbpasswd -j (whatever) -r ( whatever) -U ( whatever). I am using gcc version 2.95 and I think I have all the other libraries needed but not sure. Using the same software on a Solaris 2.7 it works fine. Philip Clark C4I Analyst CSC MARCORSYSCOM

Broken pipe error when attaching samba 2.2.8a to NT4 pdc
Morning folks, Need some Help. I have a Solaris 2.5.1 system that runs Samba as simple shares but I want to attach it to an NT4 domain and use Winbind for NT authentication. But I get a broken pipe error when I run " smbpasswd -j thinktank -r testerpdc -U tester -D4". With the debug level set to 4 everything looks good until it connects to the pdc on port 445 then i get the broken

Redhat 8 Samba+CUPS
Hi all. In the interest of using a more mainstream business distribution, I changed my faithful file/printserver over to Redhat 8.0 from Debian Testing. Now, my shared directories are working fine but printing is not working. I can browse to the printer using net view or Network Neighborhood in Windows or using smbclient -L in Linux but printing is not working. I've checked

Should be easy-printing problem rest of Samba works
Hi list. I've just got Samba up and running as a fileserver just fine. Now I'm trying to use it as a printserver using CUPS. I can see said printer via Network Neighborhood on XP boxes and add it in Windows but no print jobs complete. No errors in Windows yet no printing start on the printer. Would this be a question of spool permissions? Right now I'm using spool

Roland, Thank you very much for your attention to this. You should get a medal for all the help you give everyone on this list. On Sun, 10 May 2015, Rowland Penny wrote: > Why ? Fatal Error: Invalid HOMEDRIVE
All, I've encountered the same problem as others who have posted under the same subject. I've had R-1.8.1 installed and running since it was released. Yesterday morning when I tried to start Rgui.exe I got the subject error message. Since I live at the whim of the network administrators I can only assume it was a recent MS critical update. I tried installing R-1.9.0 but no joy. I

Maybe I will demote DC2 and join it again. > Check if you actually have dns

logon drive = Z: causes problems
"logon drive" defaults to Z:. This causes our XP clients to get Z mapped to their home directory. We already use U for that purpose so they end up getting both U and Z mapped to the same location. Users being users this causes great confusion and there have been times when they've deleted their entire Z drive thinking it was a duplicate copy of U. I've attempted many

sem: incorrect parameter estimates
Hello. I am getting results from sem that are not correct (that's assuming that the results from my AMOS 4.0 software are correct). sem does not vary some of the parameters substantially from their starting values, and the final estimates of those parameters as well as the model chisquare value are incorrect. I've attached some code that replicates the problem. The parameters in

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

Copy files from Unix host to Windows host with Samba 2.0 ?
Can anyone tell me if files can be copied from a Unix (Solaris 2.6) host running Samba 2.0 to a Windows Server ? It appears that the 'smbclient' command might support this capability, but I can't seem to get it to work. I can use the smbclient -L to view shares and the -M to sent Windows hosts messages, so all appears to be configured correctly. (using a 'wins server' on a
